Monday Musings

Monday again - already! How does it come around so fast? The week-ends just race by.

Our Saturday was spent at the zoo, with two babies, the two big girls, and Kristen. The minivan was jammed! So was the zoo - the first nice Saturday in months and half the state was there! (I have to say that watching the people was as much fun as watching the animals - sometimes more! Oh, my, what some people wear - or don't wear - when the air warms up!)

027

Miss Feisty was all prepared for a very sunny day.

005

The big girls picked up souvenirs before we even entered the gate!
015

The little girls slept most of the day away.

016

It's always good to have a lift from your grandpa.

034

One of the buildings does not allow strollers inside - thus, Grandma stays out with the babies - I guess you're on the honor system to take your own stroller when you come back out!

017

I know some people object to zoos. I do feel sorry for some of the big animals, but it sure is great to see them and show them to the kids. Some of the animals get to strut around in freedom. I need to add that this zoo does a great job of giving the others a lot of room to roam.

031

One of the most beautiful creatures God created - fighting with a hot dog!

020

The mountain goats have a great time on their rocks.

029

030

The giraffes seemed to be a bit confused - thinking the protective fence was the tree it was trying to protect.

033

035

One time when I was at the same zoo, years ago, I was taking a rest - noticing the crowd around the giraffe fence. I was privileged to observe the birth of a new baby giraffe - falling 8 feet to the ground, getting right up on its spindly little legs, able to get up and walk immediately.

Mom and Dad are being very attentive to their new baby.

023

God has such a great sense of humor!

021

This little guy is doing his best to get rid of that log.

032

The King of Beasts looks regal, no matter where he is.

008

It was a fairly exhausting day, but well worth the exhaustion. The big girls, Kristen, and DC went to an IMAX show after a couple of hours at the zoo. I stayed with the babies, since taking two babies into an IMAX show is not such a great idea. (The big girls slept through most of the huge movie). We ended the day at Chili's, thinking everyone would fall asleep on the way home. Fortunately, the babies slept, but the bigger girls were a bit too wound up. Memories are made of days like this.

For more about the kiddoes, check out Kristen's place.

Looks like it was an absolutely wonderful day and you're so right that you've made some truly precious memories!
You got some great pictures of the animals! That must have been wondrous to have seen the birth of a giraffe. I'm sure that doesn't happen too often when visiting a zoo!

Oh my, what a fun day you had. I'm glad the twins slept for you. How about that stroller parking lot???!!!! so funny!

I loved the shot of the lion. It looked very professional... and reminded me of the Bible story- Daniel in the lions den.

Thanks for sharing your great memories.

My kids loved the zoo. Great pictures of the kids (love Miss Feisty's glasses).

What a great day Dawn - and the pictorial was super. It's a blessing that the twins are still young enough to just sleep the day away. I enjoy zoo too, but I must admit I don't like seeing the big animals in captivity. I get claustrophobic just watching them. But it is a great learning experience for the kids and some of those animals aren't able to survive in the wild any more for various reasons. There - I feel a bit better now.
Not sure exactly how to attract birds. Just keep waiting I think. I used to get a lot more birds to the bird bath than I do now. There is a big black cat that is sometimes lurking around our yard. Perhaps that's the reason:-)

The twins are growing so fast! I love all the pictures of your kiddos. Crowded or no, it looks like a fun zoo trip!

Be blessed Dawn.

Dawn,

I love all the photos of your day at the zoo with Kristen and the girls. You have a lovely family and it looks like it was a lot of fun.

I don't mind zoos as long as the animals are well cared for. Zoos are wonderful places for kids to learn about the world.

My, the girlies have grown and they looked lovely in their little outfits.

I have photos of Evan on my Tuesday post. I finally got to meet him today. He is 7 weeks old and a cutie.

Blessings for a great week.

Thanks for the virtual visit to the zoo, Dawn. I really enjoyed the pictures. It's been years since I went to the zoo. The closest one to us is the Memphis Zoo and I know Jessica was pretty small when I went with her as a chaperon, otherwise known as a small child herder.

Hope your week is a good one.

*Only 4 more months until your retirement....* ;o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

What a wonderful day with your family!! Great pictures, love the one with the new sunglasses! The twins will be up and running next year when you go to the zoo, just think about that. Gramdma will have to get her running shoes on! I can't catch my two no matter how hard I try if they are running, which they usually are. Now I'm going to hop over to Kristen's and say howdy!

It looks like a fabulous day filled with lifelong memories for all.

The weather looks like it was glorious too.

Now....how fun would that be to see the birth of a giraffe? Imagine if we had to fall and then get up and walk.

That looks like a fun zoo to visit! I bet Kristen appreciated you and DC going and helping out, and enjoying the fun. :-) That's neat that you have seen a baby giraffe being born! I'm glad you were able to enjoy such a beautiful Saturday with your family.

To answer your question, my girls get out of school on June 19th this year. It's about a week later than planned because of all the snow we got!

I absolutely love visiting the zoo and try to go at least once a year...unfortunately the closest one to me is over 4 hours away! I just love being able to see these type of animals which if it wasn't for zoos, we'd never get to see in person!! Sounds like everyone had a great day and I so enjoyed looking at the pictures. Like you, I also enjoy people watching and as you said, it boggles the mind at what some people wear! hehe xoxo

No wonder your tired! (referring to your next post.)

I loved seeing the animals. Great post. I've now been to the zoo!

My husband worked on an IMAX movie..."Wired to Win". It's playing in various locations. It was filmed in France and it's about bicycle racing and also the human brain. (He didn't go to France...but worked on the music, here.)
