AND FINALLY!!!

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I had so many medical appointments in a few days? Remember how I bragged on the new mammogram equipment that wasn't so painful to me? Well, unfortunately, they decided they needed another look-see on the right side, so I had to go back up there for more intense squishing. I was in tears this time - because I was nervous about the outcome, because it hurt so much, and because I had to pay for this one! Not fun. The very good news - all was well - just some folding of some tissue.
Then my doctor forgot to order a thyroid test, so now I have to go up there again on Wednesday for some more blood drawn. Not happy about that. Oh, well.

Saturday was a busy day. Kristen was away on a retreat for her paralegal program - she had the chance to "bond" with the other students - since they all do the program on line, this was the first time most of them have met in person. She had a great getaway. But Care Bear had a Bible quiz meet - fortunately, in a church across town so we didn't have to travel far. They have been quizzing on Joshua, Judges, and Ruth this year - not the easiest books in the Bible! She is the youngest, and by far the smallest, quizzer. She did pretty well, and I have to say I would have to do a bit of studying to be able to answer the rather obscure questions they ask of these kids! I am so thankful she is hiding God's word in her heart. They go to Colorado Springs a week from Friday to spend the night in a hotel, then quiz statewide on Saturday. She's pumped about that. (Hmm. I think a trim of the bangs would be in order before that day!)

Saturday afternoon we had a luncheon to welcome our new pastor's wife, called "Hats Off to Rhonda." As you know from my "Easter Dress Parade" a couple of posts ago, I loved wearing hats as a teen. I haven't for years - partly because it didn't work out well when singing in choir (we used to wear robes), and partly because not many people wear them any more.
There is one lovely matron in our church who wore hats every Sunday for years. She is housebound now with her disabled husband, and problems of her own, so I asked if I could borrow a hat from her. Her DIL and I went to visit her on Friday afternoon and I tried on several:
I took this one home and wore it on Sunday with my yellow outfit - can't believe I forgot to have a picture taken!
I loved the elegance of this one, so I wore it to the luncheon.
The little hats on the tables were made by "baking" styrofoam cups, then decorating them.
Rhonda was presented with her official "Red Hat", since she just had her 50th birthday.
It is such a small world - my friend Ruth (who broke her elbow the night before, but valiantly came and sang the song she was scheduled to do) had Rhonda's grandmother as her favorite Sunday School teacher ever back in western Kansas when she was in elementary school.
The only problem?? It was a salad and dessert luncheon. I didn't have time to make a dessert I could have, and nobody brought a salad that fit in with PRISM. I didn't get to eat much, but it was fun!
