This Week-end I . . .

Keys to the Cottage

  • Watched my poor hubby's face looking like he'd been in a boxing match from skin cancer surgery. It looked even worse the next day - eye almost swollen shut.

  • Played "slide" and every other playground piece of equipment with the littles.

  • Fed the twinnies their new favorite lunch - ham and cheese pinwheels.

  • Hubby took himself to the emergency room (I couldn't go because the twins were sleeping soundly in their little beds). Got home 3 hours later with a kidney infection diagnosis. What a double whammy! At 10 when he left, I thought he was going to the grocery store to get cranberry juice to stave off said diagnosis. What a communication snafu!

  • Left hubby home in his sick bed while I went to visit the CSU Annual Flower Trial Garden with our 4x4 group, then out to eat. I really needed the fellowship with adults after many hours with littles the last two weeks. (Of course, I forgot my camera - got this pic off the web).

("The purpose of the trial program conducted at the Annual Flower Trial Garden is to evaluate the performance of different annual plant cultivars under our unique Rocky Mountain environmental conditions. Our growing conditions are characterized by high altitude, intense solar radiation, drying winds, severe hailstorms, large fluctuations between day and night temperatures and a season-long need for irrigation. Each year, our annual trial consists of over 1,000 different cultivars of annual bedding plants. Varieties are grouped by genus, arranged by color and grown in rows, side-by-side, so as to facilitate the comparison of similar varieties.") You can Google CSU Annual Flower Trial Garden and see amazing pictures on their home page.

  • Got the confirmation of good news that my cousin Ann, the missionary in Mali, Africa, is coming to visit in 3 weeks for the first time ever. So excited!

  • Didn't get any cleaning or grocery shopping done. Did finish a bit of laundry, though. Finished the book, The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Excellent - highly recommend!

  • Took Care Bear to look for "Silly Bands" - if you have a little girl in your life, you may have heard of this latest fad. We lucked out at Walgreen's, our second stop.

  • Caught cold from little Emma - just can't stop kissing those little faces, even if they're a bit snotty!

  • Was challenged by Sermon #10 of the series in James.

Go on over to Becky's place to join the fun.

This Week-end I . . .

Keys to the Cottage

  • Took advantage of DC's birthday gift card from his employer for a free dinner.
  • Wished I was in Brockton, Massachusetts to participate in commencement ceremony and service for Kevin's completion of his Teen Challenge program.
  • Heard from missionary friends who surprised him with their presence at the ceremony - we were so appreciative that these folks, who live in Boston, took time from their busy schedules to bless Kevin, and us.

  • Finished Book #3 in the Anne of Green Gables series.

  • Worked with Sema, Kev's wife, to make him a surprise batch of caramel rolls.

  • Got to hug my big handsome son when he got back from the airport - his first trip home in 18 months.

  • Made "Minnesota salad" for Sunday lunch - called that because we can only get the little macaroni rings in Minnesota.

  • Had lunch with our new 4x4 group from church (4 couples eat together 4 times within 4 months).

  • Ended up with the girlies for an extra day and night - Kristen stepped on a huge thorn that had to be dug out of her heel, so is sleeping through the pain.

  • Talked to my young friend from our Cambodian family on the phone.

  • Had the privilege of hearing my nephew preach in the evening service. He's a youth pastor in Olympia, Washington.

  • Went to McD's after church because I didn't have anything in the house for the unexpected four extras to eat.
Have a great week!

This Week-end I . . .

Keys to the Cottage

  • Ended a great VBS, working in the kitchen. Made about 250 snow cones during the week.
  • Rode my bike to the gym, then worked out.

  • Went to the recycle center with DC to off-load branches he had sawed off the big front yard tree.

  • Picked some cherries from my sister's tree - first year it has had enough to pick. Hope to get at least one pie.

  • Split a yummy Subway sandwich with DC.

  • Finally succeeded in booking a ticket for Kev to come home for a week later this month. Waaayyy too expensive, but worth every penny.

  • Had a nice visit with my sis-in-law, here from Idaho, while my brother, husband, and BIL went to a showing of WWII planes.

  • Came home from the grocery store to find four starving little girls had arrived. Fed them grilled hot dogs (Nathan's are the best).
  • Finally got the kitchen cleaned up in between putting groceries away, getting bath water ready, and mediating all of the other "stuff" that goes on with 4 female siblings.

  • Wore a dress to church that hasn't fit for at least 3 years. Fun!
  • Had a blessed service with a missionary from Mozambique.

  • Shared a wonderful lunch with missionary and other friends at Mimi's.

  • Learned that my missionary uncle went to heaven last night after a long, worthy life. Wishing I could go to Minnesota for the funeral. Same problems as above - high fares - and those 4 little girls --

  • Began Continuance phase of PRISM weight loss program. Still 2 pounds to go, but I'll do it!

  • Relaxed and caught up on some DVR'd retro shows.

  • Finally remembered to do "This Week-end I . . ."

Don't perish from envy for all the excitement! Join the fun over at Becky's place
