Friday Show and Tell - and Twin Update

Back in the early days of my blogging adventure, I told the story behind this picture. If you want the whole story and you have some extra time, you can go
here for the "purple shoe story."

Besides the purple shoes and the silver ones from her son's wedding, she gave me all of these. What a blessing it has been to have so many lovely pairs of shoes.

Ruth has experienced more loss of feeling in her leg and foot. She is in chronic pain, but you would never know it most of the time. In fact, she is going in for a surgical procedure that is intended to relieve her of the constant pain.

The other day the doctor put an end to the hope she had that she might someday regain the feeling in her feet. She still plays the organ at church (we share that ministry), and is losing the ability to feel the pedals. She realized that she could never wear any of the other shoes that she had held onto in hope that, since they were flats, she could someday wear them again. Not so - they don't have enough support to keep her foot from rolling. So now I am the proud owner of these:

A girl can't have too many shoes?? I never thought I'd have this many. For once, it pays to have big feet - I'm the only one she knows that these shoes fit! I have always admired her shoes. I have trouble finding shoes that are comfortable. She buys really high quality. Only one pair has not felt good on my feet, and I gave them to my DIL, since they were really too small for me.

If you think of it, pray for Ruth as she goes into these two surgical procedures, that she will finally have some relief from her pain.

The teeny tiny twins are not so teeny tiny any more. People still think they're so tiny, but compared to where they started, they're HUGE. Actually, they're the size of most newborns. They haven't been weighed by a doctor recently, but on a home scale, being held by Kristen, Emma is at 7 pounds and Kate is over 8.
See if you can tell how much they've grown from the first time they had on these outfits until now.

Sunday they will be dedicated at church. I'll be sure to get some pictures of that to share next week.

I must give credit to my very busy, back-to-work, mother-of-five, exhausted-to-the-core daughter, who took time to make me look good once again. Thanks, toots, for the new look!

Have a wonderful week-end, everyone!

A great friend to give you great
shoes. My mom just recently gave
up high heels and heels. But she
had on a great pair of silver trimmed fashionable sneakers on the other day. I was happy for her.
The babies look like they're doing
well. I am happy for your family :)

Great shoes, I think it is one of those whoopee things most women like to dois to collect shoes and bags....

LOVE the purple shoes especially! How kind of Ruth to pass on the shoes to you, but how sad that she can no longer wear them herself. She must be so glad of your close friendship and support through her illness.

Dawn,

I'll say a prayer for Ruth and the twins too. I pray Ruth's surgery goes well.

My those are a lot of lovely shoes! I think it would take me 30 minutes just to decide which pair to wear today! :)

Blessings,
Gina

Those precious little twins are growing so fast, Dawn. They are definitely filling those outfits now.

What a thoughtful friend that you have in Ruth. I am sorry to hear of her constant pain. I will keep her in my prayers.

My mother had such beautiful shoes when she became a paraplegic. She too had a dear friend who was so appreciative to receive my mom's shoes when my mom could not longer wear them. She often speaks about one pair or another that had special meaning to her. It is wonderful that you are so thankful as I know how it makes Ruth feel.

nice story about the shoes; I hope her surgery gives her some relief. I don't know how people handle constant pain. I also don't know how your daughter is surviving. I hope she gets some breaks from everything once a week--she really needs a little time just for herself.

Those twins are getting big. They are so beautiful. May God continue to strengthen them and make them grow.

Thanks for stopping by
Sandwichedmom. My tween doesn't
want trouble and stays out of it.
But so many of the kids today have
no parental support, are mixed up,
and are doing things so early that
they don't understand them. I feel
bad for their situations, but there
are many people who come from bad places and make good choices. I
wish I had all the right answers
to help all the kids! Have a great Sunday!

Those are cute shoes! I where flats, too. If I don't--I eventually feel it in my back.

I hope and pray Ruth's surgeries go well.

The twins look well! Your daughter was kind to work on your blog...it looks great!

Good Morning Dawn,
What a blessing to receive those shoes from your friend, Ruth. I do love the Purple Shoes very much. I will be praying for Ruth as she has those 2 surgical procedures to releive her from so much pain. The twins are really growing. I can tell they have grown since they first wore those outfits. They are very precious and I do enjoy seeing pictures of them. I have some things for you on my post for today. I am looking forward to seeing the pictures of the twins dedication. I remember when our girls were dedicated in Church. It was truly a blessing. We videoed it and have it on tapes. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.
