Monday Musings

So- it's a good thing we went to the zoo last Saturday - this one was not nice, weatherwise. I just stayed in the house most of the day. It was windy, sunny, cloudy, snow-showery, windy, crazy. Today it was a bit nicer, but not too warm.

We had a three-church hymn sing. It's always such fun to sing the good old songs with others who love them, and to fellowship with other congregations. Our choir sang - the same song we did in the morning service. It's a good old Dottie Rambo song which expresses how I feel sometimes!

There's a light in the window;
The table's spread in splendor.
Someone's standing by the open door.
I can see a crystal river,
So I must be near forever.
Lord, I've never been this homesick before.

See the bright light shine;
It's just about hometime.
I can see my Father standing at the door.
This world has been a wilderness;
I'm ready for deliverance.
Lord, I've never been this homesick before.

I can see the family gather,
Sweet faces all familiar;
No one's old or feeble any more.
This lonesome heart is crying;
Think I'll spread my wings for flying.
Lord, I've never been this homesick before.

See the bright light shine;
It's just about home time.
I can see my Father standing at the door.
This world has been a wilderness,
I'm ready for deliverance.
Lord, I've never been this homesick before.

We went to lunch at our favorite Chinese restaurant to celebrate Mom's 79th birthday.
She was only 18 when I was born. Dad is 82 - they were just children when they started life together 61 years ago.

When we think of heaven, we think of the beauty we will be surrounded by for eternity. I am just so thankful that God has provided us with a measure of that beauty here on earth.

Let's take a little walk around my yard.

Have a wonderful week!

I've always loved the flowers in your yard.

A very happy birthday to your mom! She looks great! It is amazing to think that my own mom is even older at 81...sometimes it's hard for me to even fathom this!
Your flowers are gorgeous! I love that first shot especially...so beautiful.

And I scrolled down to see your day at the zoo last weekend. What a fun time it looks like you all had!

That picture of the strollers looked very familiar for our times at Disneyland! We actually did lose our little cheap stroller the very last day...someone either stole ours or simply took it by mistake.
We also had gotten a rental stroller so that both girls could ride around the last part of each days when they got tired. But I think their daddy and me were wishing they'd push us around towards the end! LOL

Happy Birthday to your Mom! My dad turned 79 on the 23rd, so they're very close to the same age. She looks wonderful :)
Loved seeing all your gorgeous spring blooms.
We've had gorgeous weather this weekend and I hope it heads your way soon!

I so enjoyed the walk in you yard with all the beautiful flowers.

Your folks look like such a happy couple. Isn't it wonderful to have such a long marriage on their side?

Enjoy your week.

Look at your beautiful mama! Sixty one years married is amazing. Congrats to them and happy birthday to her.

And I love your flowers. We do not get any daffodils (which I grew up calling jonquils) in FL, or tulips, crocuses, hyacinth, etc. Anything that needs a good freeze and gently waking does not grow in FL. Sadly. I miss them all from my midwest days.

Have a great week.

Congats to your Mom on her birthday and for being together with your Dad 61 yrs. WOW, that's a milestone in itself. I was married at 18 and we're nearing 38 years. We have a long ways to go to reach that.
Your flowers are beautiful.

Your flowers are beautiful! I wish I had better luck with growing things in our yard. I'm going to give it a try again this year and hope for the best. :)

I love your new look!

What a lovely walk Dawn! Your flowers are beautiful. I am just itching to get my yard and gardens cleaned up - but it has been so cold and nasty!
What a blessing for you to spend your mom's birthday together! So you have 4 generations all in the same area - that is great.
Our church used to do those sing alongs too - I always enjoyed them. I don't know that I know the song you shared but I love the words.

I had no idea Gma was 18 when you were born. What a fun fact to learn!

Sixty-one years ago? Wow. I've been married just exactly half that long and it seems like forever. How blessed they are to have so many years together.

Your flowers are so, so pretty.

I love Dottie Rambo but am not familiar with that song. I'd love to hear her sing it. I've heard her daughter and son-in-law in person a few times. They are good, too.

Your parents look great. 61years!!!! How wonderful. Are they both in good health?

It rained most of Saturday here and yesterday it was cloudy with very strong cold winds so it wasn't the best of weekends here either! Today it's sunny but cold and windy again.

Happy 79th birthday to your mom...both your parents look so good!! I'm glad you were all able to go out for a celebratory meal:-) It's wonderful that their marriage has lasted this long after marrying at such a young age!!

Oh Dawn, I just love all your Spring flowers, how beautiful they are!! I'm thinking with this colder temperatures we're now getting, my tulips might change their mind about blooming! lol xox

The flowers are FABULOUS!

And the pic of your folks could be me and Mulletman in a "few" years. We also were married at 18.

Happy Birthday to your mother, Dawn. She is just 2 years younger than Mom.

Wow! 61 years is a milestone for sure.

I love all your flowers. We have very few blooms yet and can't plant anything for at least 3 more weeks. Until then we can have a hard frost and one is expected tonight. However, we can get our gardens cleaned up and prepared for planting. If it doesn't rain I want to work more in the yard tomorrow.

Thanks for posting on my post. I always enjoy our visits. Now I'm going to read you twins update.

Blessings for a great week.
Mary

Love the flower photos, and the one of your parents is just great.

Weather-wise, we are about the same. We went to a celebration at the cathedral in Fort Worth and ran the heater the whole way, it was so cold. By the time we got out we ran the air conditioner all the way home. That's weather for you. The celebration was for our bishop's 15 anniversary as a bishop and 34th year in the priesthood. He is leading us through the his mess and away from a national church that has thrown the Bible away in favor of if it feels good, do it!

Happy Birthday to your Mom! If my Mama was still living she'd have been 79 in June.

Beautiful Spring flowers! Bulbs and Spring flowers are my favorite kinds.

It was over 80º here on Saturday and yesterday it didn't get above 60º. Today it was in the low 60's and we're under a freeze warning overnight tonight. As you say, crazy weather!

Hope the rest of your week is good, Dawn.

Love and hugs,

Diane

I have been here, and I thought I had left comments! Ahhh. Could be the mind. I wrote things in my head and then forget. Hi my friend. Your garden looks stunning. My daffs and tulips are over now and the lilac is starting to bloom. I love spring!

Hi Dawn~ this was my first introduction to your parents. I'm sure you have posted about them before but I just missed it. They look very happy and healthy for their age and what a blessing to have been married for so many years!

Your flower garden is just gorgeous. I love my flowers too and such a constant reminder of God's magnificent creation.

Congrats to your mom, and your dad. What an interesting life they
must be having, marrying not so long after WWII ending, and all they've shared since then.

And thanks again for showing
your lovely flowers. I don't know which I enjoy seeing more, them,
or your sun rises and sun sets.

Your Mom looks fantastic! How wonderful. You must have good genes in your family ☺ Love that hymn. God sure inspires people to write the most beautiful music.

Love all your photos! Wow, you must be in spring. It is just starting to get green around here - except for the evergreens of course.

Hugs!

Those flowers are beautiful! I'd love to have a yard full like you do...only trouble is, there's no one around here who is going to do all the work to get them. ;)

Great picture of your folks! I hope your mom had a terrific day. :)
