A Scare, Answer to Prayer, Hats, and Shoes

I was glad to know that the words to the hymns I shared with you struck a chord with many of you. I am so thankful to be able to sing these songs in our church. I seriously planned to finish the vacation travelogue today, but I just have to show and tell the latest.

I'm still struggling with my decision about the lasik procedure on my eyes. I really want to do it, but the cost is giving me great pause. I could probably do it as things are right now, but who knows what's going to happen next week??? Then I look at myself in the mirror and wonder if I want to go back to doing the whole eye make-up thing, which I kind of don't do when I'm wearing glasses. But if I don't do it, I at least have to get new glasses. It takes quite awhile to get an appointment, so I need to make a decision and act upon it soon. So . . . . today, when I couldn't find my glasses, it was panic time!

You see, I have wonderful prescription sunglasses - when I change from glasses to sunglasses, I put the other pair in my purse. Tonight, when it came time to change out of sunglasses for the evening, I could not find my regular glasses. I don't have any back-up plan. The darker it got, the more my eyes hurt wearing the sunglasses.

I looked everywhere in the car - Feisty had dumped everything from the passenger seat of the van onto the floor. They were nowhere to be found - nowhere. When DC got home, he took the flashlight out to the car and - lo and behold - they had fallen into the little storage area on the door - the only place I hadn't looked. I had even looked in the other door. YAY!! What a relief! Thank you, Lord.

Last week
Diane posted about Bugaloo baby shoes. I thought they were so cute that I couldn't resist ordering a pair for each of the twins. I was hoping to get both of them the little Mary Janes, but they must be very popular, because there was only one pair in stock. So I ordered the adorable giraffe ones for the second pair. They came very quickly, packaged beautifully, and reasonably priced. Check it out, if you have cute little people in your life!

The big girls got new shoes this week-end, too. Feisty wanted to show off one of her new pairs. They each got new dress shoes to wear with their new matching Christmas dresses - I can't wait to show you pictures of all 4 of them dressed alike. Coming soon! Feisty picked out these cute clogs and Care Bear was excited to find High School Musical tennies.

After Barb showed us the picture of Avery in that darling fuzzy winter hat, I just had to order some for the girlies. Check them out! Order some of these, too!

Of course, Miss Care Bear has to seriously pose. She wanted you to note the Thanksgiving feast she prepared for the Little People and scarecrows.

In case you're wondering about their faces -- here are close-ups, with explanation to follow.

Our Chick-Fil-A is doing a fun activity for kids every Monday night. Kristen has taken them the last two weeks. Last week they made very cute Thanksgiving wreaths with construction paper. This week was face painting. Next time they'll be making Christmas gifts for their families. I love Chick-Fil-A because they honor the Lord by closing on Sundays. Same reason I love Hobby Lobby (besides the fact that they have WONDERFUL merchandise and play beautiful Christian music while I'm shopping!)

Well, it's been fun visiting with you - more later!

How fun to see them in the hats I made, Dawn. Looks like they all fit reasonably well. Not bad considering I had to guess on the sizes!

Dawn,

The girls are so cute in their new hats and the face painting is delightful.

Aunt May is the same tonight. There's been no change and I don't really expect any. I do hope the Lord takes her home soon. She is comfortable and resting under sedation. They moved her to a private room today so she would have peace.

Thanks for your kind words and prayers.

Blessings,
Mary

The little shoes and hats are so cute! I may have to make Emmy a hat, but it's hard to keep a hat on her, so I don't know if it's worth the effort.

I like Hobby Lobby and Chick Fil A for the same reasons, though I don't really care for the food at CFA.

If I had the opportunity to have lasik surgery I think I'd do it, but I understand your reasons for hesitating. I guess if you put it off now and the money's there later there's no reason you can't have it done later.

Hope you have a good week, Dawn. :o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

Awww....the girls all look so darn cute. I love the face painting and the new shoes. My DIl gets the Bugaloo shoes for the little ones. I had not heard of them before she bought them, but they are so soft and cute.

Glad that you found your glasses. I had the same problem and the last time I replaced my glasses, I got the Transitions. It was the best thing that I have ever done because I don't have to switch glasses when I get into the sun.

I wish you luck in your decision for the eye surgery. My brother had it done a few years ago. He is happy with it but still needs his glasses for reading. Can't wait to hear what you decide to do.

Barb's hats are darling. She does such a nice job on her items.

What fun pictures!! Those fuzzy hats are the best. So cute.

I hope that the Lord guides to the right decision regarding the surgery or glasses. It's sometimes hard to make those types of decisions.

Okay - the shoes are cute, but those hats are off the chart. Oh my, those are so adorable. All the girls look great.

Dawn, will your lasik correct both far and near vision? That's the thing, I don't want to wear reading glasses either.

The girls are so cute in their hats and shoes and the face painting is gorgeous! I love those two places too and for the same reasons. Our youngest worked at chick fil a for several years and I loved the fact that he didn't have to miss church because of work!

Those hats and shoes are way toooo cooool!! Looks like lots of fun. I have never seen such nice face painting either!

As far as glasses go, I have a time. I have rosacea and the glasses with the wiggly nose pieces really bother me now. So I have to get the plastic ones with the fixed nose pieces and they have to be fairly large otherwise I have trouble reading larger books or mags. So I end up looking like a crazy old lady (which technically sp? I am!). But who likes to look so dowdy! Ah well.............

Dawn,

Thank you for your kind comments about Brandon's foresight into the very strong lady that Aunt May was and still is. Your friendship and support is greatly appreciated.

Hope all is well with your family.

Blessings,
Mary

I'll pray you make the right decision about your eyes. I know its a hard one...and never the right time.

The girls look so adorable in their shoes and hats!

Oh Dawn,

What a wonderful time of life for you and yours. The photos are just great...is there EVER a time your Grandbabies aren't smiling! They love you!

This IS the time, isn't it, of difficult decisions. Our eyes--and all the things we have taken (nearly) for granted most of our lives begin to fail. I hate it. I have to go have my own eyes checked and will be speaking to the Opthomologist about surgery.

We need to talk!

Blessings!

Diane

I'm so glad you found your glasses. I wouldn't be able to read or write without mine, but I'd be okay with distance. Ahh aging....not for the faint of heart.
The girls are adorable and so are their hats and shoes. My two youngest granddaughters just have a thing for shoes. They'd rather get shoes than toys when given the chance!
I love both of those places too Dawn. In fact, I was in Hobby Lobby yesterday buying batting for a new quilt I'm going to start tomorrow at my Mom's (with her supervision!). I appreciate their Christian values - and I do love those 40% off coupons!!

Hi Dawn!

The girls in their hats are adorable! And I love everyone's new shoes! And the face painting! What sweet, sweet girls. I'd totally babysit if I lived closer! :-)

Good luck making a decision about Lasik. I guess it's one of those decisions that only you can make for yourself, but I will say this: I like putting on eye makeup! :-) It's one of my favorite parts of my morning routine.

I hope you're having a good week,
Sammy

Oh what cute pictures of all the girls!!! Those hats are just adorable and so are the shoes! There are so many wonderful things that we can get online now!
Glad you found your glasses. I still have one pair in the missing but I keep looking. I got two pair when I got a new prescription a few months ago and set one pair aside for emergencies......I hope there aren't any as I can't remember where I put them!!!! DUH! It seems like the older I get the more time I spend looking for things! I will be anxious to hear what you decide about the eye surgery!

Good happy Thursday Dawn!!!
I love the shoes. Aren't they adorable? I saw them at Diane's place also. Would love it if they made adult ones. Maybe some day.

The hats are something else! They're so cute on the girls!

If you don't have the eye surgery, you should consider transition lenses! They're more expensive but they go from light lens to shaded lens with the sun/light in a room as you move about. I love 'em.

Have a super day, thanks for stopping by. It's always fun to see your comment.
