No inspiration --

This woman of many words doesn't have much to say today.

We're having a heat wave - not really a tropical heat wave, but a Colorado winter weird heat wave. It's nice and sunny, going to the 60s today and higher tomorrow. The snow is gone.

Somebody sent me this in an e-mail the other day and I thought it would be fun to pass it on - but right now, You know you're from Colorado if - it turns into spring for a few days in the middle of winter!

You know you're from Colorado if . . .

. . . you'll eat ice cream in the winter.

. . . it snows 5 inches and you don't expect school to be canceled.

. . . you'll wear flip flops every day of the year, regardless of temperature.

. . . you have no accent at all, but can hear other people's. And then you make fun of them

. . . 'humid' is over 25%.

. . . you say 'the interstate' and everybody knows which one.

. . . you think that May is a totally normal month for a blizzard.

. . . you buy your flowers to set out on Mother's day, but try and hold off planting them until just before Father's day.

. . . you grew up planning your Halloween costumes around your coat.

. . . you know what the Continental Divide is.

. . . you went to Casa Bonita as a kid, and as an adult (that’s only because the out of towners want to go!)

. . . you've gone off-roading in a vehicle that was never intended for such activities.

. . . you always know the elevation of where you are.

. . . you wake up to a beautiful, 80 degree day and you wonder if it's going to snow tomorrow.

. . . you don't care that some company renamed it, the Broncos still play at Mile High Stadium.

. . . every movie theater has military and student discounts.

. . . everybody wears jeans to church.(Edit: Well, not everyone!)

. . . you actually know that "South Park" is a real place not just a show on TV.

. . . you know what a 'trust fund hippy' is, and you know its natural habitat is Boulder.

. . . you know you're talking to a fellow Coloradoan when they call it Elitches, not Six Flags.

. . . a bear on your front porch doesn't bother you (well, maybe not this one).

. . . your two favorite teams are the Broncos and whoever is beating the crap out of the Raiders.

. . . people out East tell you they have mountains in their state too, you just laugh.

. . . you go anywhere else on the planet and the air feels 'sticky' and you notice the sky is no longer blue.

There's a fun thing going around - go to your picture file, go to the 5th folder, share the 5th picture. Kristen is going to love this one:

Kristen hasn't had much time to post lately. She did put up a piece of art work last night you might enjoy seeing - Olivia, always before known as Feisty, asked her to put this picture on her blog. Head over there, if you have a minute - Olivia will love to hear from you!

I seem short of words this week too! Sorry about the blogger problems - that isn't an issue I've had before so I'm not sure what it could be.
Send some of that sunshine up this way - I'm SO tired of the cold and the inversion - although today the sun is shining it is still so cold.
Olivia - what a beautiful name!

Having lived in Denver for 3 years ages ago, I could relate to some of these.

No...we really DO have mountains over here. REALLY! Of course, Mt. Katahdin is only 5,260 feet, but it looks amazingly higher than that from the base!

Side note: My d-i-l moved yesterday. There's 2 feet of snow on the ground and she wore her flip-flops ALL DAY!

Our weather out here in California has been in the high 70's this week and sunny too. It seems like we don't really get seasons here, just weather from day to day. I had the grandkids out on the patio yesterday and it was great to just sit and watch them enjoy the weather. I love the picture you posted. So cute!!
I am heading on over to see Olivia's latest creation. Love you Dawn and praying still:)

Love and Hugs, Laurie

The picture is adorable Dawn. I'm glad you're having a break in the weather. It can really brighten your spirits a bit to have a nice day.

We're having the same heat wave, Dawn! Must be completely over the west side...
But we have been known to get "spring" in February many times in the past, only to have it be an awful teaser because winter returns for a last hurrah!

Love the picture you found...and the Colorado e-mail...a few of those things could easily be transferred to Oregon! :)

I'm glad that you are getting some pleasant weather to enjoy.

Cute picture of the kids. One doesn't look quite as happy as the other!

It was a cute Colorado read and reminded me of one that was sent to me as an "Iowa" read. Too funny and too easy to relate to.

I'd have to say that right now I am with too few words and too little time. We head off in the early a.m. to the snow with the family for a couple of days. I'll reconnect when I get back.

Hi Dawn,
Since I'm CA born and bred, can't say I really relate to many from this email. We have beautiful sunshine today, but they're saying rain tomorrow! Yippee!!
Love the sprinkler picture :)

Well, now I know how to recognise someone from Colorado! I really hope to visit sometime. You have mountains, and I love mountains. And friends too, of course!

Sun and warmth.... I am freezing here!

I have friends from Colorado who have the same 'job' I do but because of some of their locations we do not say that. They work for a 'business and are now in Siberia, having just left Mongolia. We knew them when we all were in the same 'business' in Ven. They have also lived in Afghanistan. Anyway, I tell you all this because you may enjoy his blog. Just be cautious if you leave comments.

Amazing how your temps can change so much from day to day! We are pretty cozy right now with our temps up in the 30's, that's our heat wave!

To answer your question, we fly out of Bangor International Airport, well unless our flight is canceled! ha!

Loved all the 'if you're from Colorado' items!

Adorable picture of the girlies coming up over the stairs! Guess that must have surprised you!

Had such a great time with Needled Mom this past weekend! Wish you could have been there with us. We actually got more time together then usual which was GREAT!

I can relate to some of those sayings, for sure. My son-in-law in from CO and he tells us all the time we don't have mtns., only hills.

I used to have so much fun at Elitches and there is NOTHING like those mountains in CO...NOTHING!
