Randomness

So here it is the 12th of January already - Yikes! My brain is frozen with the crazy weather we're having (good excuse anyway, eh?) and I can't seem to think of much to share. Not to mention that my laptop is really being obstinate and I can't have it on my lap - it blips off the minute I move it. I know it needs another new power cord. The other problem is that the battery doesn't keep a charge and a new one is outrageously expensive. I want a new one so badly, one that is lightweight and is really portable. But that's not in the budget.

I haven't written anything about Christmas. It was very low key this year (well, except when the girls' other grandparents showed up a week later with tons of stuff for them - a year's worth of attention in an hour - Feisty calls her Grandma Santa).

The girls will be going home a week from Sunday. I'm sure I'll still have them a lot, but hopefully not every morning and night any more. I am really weary of the morning get-ready-for-school routine and the evening get-ready-for-school-the-next-day and get-ready-for-bed routine. I don't get why I have to say the same things every day - you'd think it would become habitual, wouldn't you??

I want to acknowledge the wonderfulness of blog friends once again. Kevin loves those peanut butter cookies with the Hershey's kiss in the middle of each cookie. I have sent them by mail before, but it so costly to mail something that heavy. So I enlisted the help of our dear friend, Groovy - I asked her if she'd mind making a batch for Kev and the guys and delivering them to him - about 20 miles from her house. She was glad to oblige this mamma and wouldn't even accept any reimbursement for ingredients or gas. What a blessing to me AND to Kev and his mates.

As long as we're on the subject of Kevin, I'll tell you that we're very excited to get to go back out that way for his final graduation. The ceremony on January 28 and we'll just make a quick trip to Boston for the week-end. Sema will go with us and he'll come back with us for a month. Please pray for them as they seek God's guidance for their future. They want to be in the center of His will.

Kev received some interesting Christmas gifts this year - this one was presented to him by a young man at one of the churches where they were sharing and ministering. He's a real "Mainer" now!

He calls this the Flannel Gang - he's on the far right.

We saw one of these last summer on someone and DC thought it was hilarious, so we sent Kev one, since he's always worried about his receding hair line.

Speaking of gifts, the girls received way more than they needed, which is lots of fun. They got many art supplies. And their big surprise was on the patio after everything else was cleaned up --

That was a beautiful day, though the girls wanted a white Christmas - they got their wish a few days later and enjoyed it to the fullest. They loved helping Grandpa clear the driveway and had to improvise with their equipment.

Remember how scared the girls were when Callie came to stay with us? What a difference time and close proximity makes! They actually cried when she went home last Saturday night.

Matchy-matchy!

2011 is rushing along! I will try to post about my word for the year soon - before the year is half over!

I agree, Kevin looks great! I pray he and Sema will keep working, but I know it's very hard. Somebody should tell this younger group that marriage is truly work! But so rewarding.

Looks like the girls had a great time. Did Kristen join y'all for the celebration? How is she doing?

Kevin does look great, Dawn, and very happy. This is such good news. And those girls - well they look very very happy too! The bikes and the snow..... what more can any little one ask for!

Once again, wonderful, wonderful post!!! Ahhhhhhh, yes, Grandma Santa. Our two kids had the same gal each holiday season.....Bud's mom [and dad]; always going overboard with gifts, 'til finally I told them to tone it down and give them one gift each. Too much of a good thing isn't always what is needed.

Anyway, 'nough of my preachin'. I loved all the photos, especially the ones of the girls cleaning the sidewalk. So so darned cute. Loved the hats and the story of the cookies. AND the telling of your friend who made and delivered the cookies in person. What a sweet, sweet, generous gift of friendship!!

Hope your week is going well so far. My sister in Montrose, just got back from an extended vacation in Hawaii, can't wait to hear what she thinks of the Colorado snows. LOL

Oh hurray for a big move for you back into a Grandma role, instead of a "mommy" role. You know I'll be prayin'...

The hardest part about delivering the cookies was not eating them on the way!!!! ;-) GrammaJ and I had fun on our adventure to find and meet Kev. Now we're praying earnestly for God's blessing and leading on his new life direction. We're praying especially for healing and guidance for him and Sema.

We love you all!

Such great bits of information that you shared! So glad the girls had such a great Christmas. And look how it turned out - they actually got to use those bikes before the snow fell!
Praying for Kev and Sema, as well as Kristen and the girls as everyone makes another transition.

The pictures all look wonderful, Dawn. I am sure you are all excited about Kev coming home for a month long visit. He does look like a real Mainer now!!!

The girls look thrilled with their new bikes. I'm glad the weather held up for them so they could ride them before the snow hit.

I continue to keep all of you in my prayers.

A post to warm the heart...Kevin looks absolutely wonderful and pleased as punch with the cookies Groovy made for him, as well as the hat he received! lol Love it!! My prayers are with him and Sema, may life be peaceful for them once he comes home.

So enjoyed seeing new pictures of all the girls. No doubt you loved having them stay with you but you'll also love it when they go home:-) There's a reason we have our kids when we're young and full of energy!!! It cracked me up seeing one of the twins using a rake in the snow...whatever works! hehe Looks like they also loved their new bikes:-)

Just a little bit of snow here, nothing like we're used to having in January. It's very cold, though, today's high was 10F. It's about now that I start wishing for Spring! lol xoxo

Yep, I know you're probably as cold as we are! Oh spring, where are thou?
I saw those 'hair hats' at a huge Christmas extravaganza in Colo. Spgs. They're so funny and real looking!
Glad you had a great Christmas. I bet the girls were tickled pink with their new bikes. How fun!

It is so good, always, to visit with you and the girls. I'm thankful that you will be getting back to a more manageable routine. You have done so much Dawn.
Kev looks wonderful. I will be praying for them. I just know the Lord has something good for them.
I think I see a dog somewhere in the future. How sweet that they learned to love her.

Oh Dawn, Kevin looks GREAT!!!!!! Thank you GOD! I will be praying for Sema and Kevin as they continue to move forward into God's purpose for their lives. I have goosebumps just thinking about the miracle that God has done in Kevin's life and heart...and the glory that will continue as Kevin walks into God's plan for his future!

Equally as exciting...and worthy of praise, is that you will be simply GRANDMA in no time! WOOT! The girls are blessed to have you in their lives!

:) Diane

That was so nice of Groovy to make the cookies and drive down to give them to Kev and the gang! Aren't bloggy friends wonderful?! He looks really happy and it will be good for him to get back home for a month. I will wave as you fly over when you come up for his graduation!

I can't believe the twins are so grown up! Where did that time go? The pictures are wonderful, we all felt like we were spare grandmothers during their birth and first months of their lives, we all prayed constantly.

It will be good for you to have time to yourselves again and get rested up. As much as we love our grandchildren it is tiring for us 'older' gals! :o)

Read a nice article about Loveland in the newest Family Circle magazine yesterday. Very interesting and made me think of you!

Very cold here this weekend, too cold to even snowmobile or walk outside. At least the sun is shining.

Kev and Sema's dog is a cutie. We had one like that a couple weeks ago at the humane society and he got adopted very quickly.

Guess that's it for today. I am having a horrible time with ringing in my ears and it's driving me half crazy. I could hardly sleep last night it was so loud. Will call my dr. on Monday!!!!!

Hope you have a great weekend and say hi to DC for us!!
