Monday Musings

It is a gray, heavy misty morning in my part of the Front Range. It is snowing in parts of Denver and in the mountains. The Broncos play tonight on national t.v. When it snows during Monday Night Football, people get all excited about coming out here to ski, so travel agents love snowy Monday Night Football with the Broncos. So does the tourist industry here in our state, which has been plagued with drought for several years. It never fails, though, if it's going to rain, it is the day immediately following the one when DC has soaked the lawn with very expensive water. God does a much better job than that sprinkler.

I have hung onto an article (by someone named Robert Clements) for several months now. It is on my mind today as we head into the season of excess - too much food, too much stress, too much spending of money on too much "stuff." It tells of a mother and daughter who hugged each other as the daughter departed from the airport. The mother said, "I love you. I wish you enough." Someone asked her what she meant by that. This is what she said: "I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye."

I know that God can help us find "enough" to cope with our stress and strife. I wish you enough to get through whatever you face this week.

We just don't get a lot of snow here. I wish we could have just ONE white Christmas!

And that is a lovely thought - "enough". Thanks for that. Have a great day.

Such a wonderful post, we wouldn't be who we are without the little challenges in life that make us appreciate all the rewards God wants to bless us with, for every action there is a reaction, or a consequence, depending how you look at it. At least that is what I have been telling my kids an awful lot here lately. :)

Sounds like a great night to curl up to a cup of hot chocolate and a blanket and watch a little football.

Its true isn't it? Unless we suffer through things to some degree, we don't appreciate all the blessings God bestows on us. Hope you've had a nice day and are staying cozy!

Thank you Dawn for sharing your salvation testimony in your comment at knitting kat. I was sure I was saved up untill I was about 32 and an evangelist pinned me down but good with the question...was I sure when I died I would go to heaven. My answer was, I think so, I hope so. He answered, young lady, tomorrow morning I want you on one of these front pews. He preached a message about how hell will be filled with 'good' people. People like myself who 'thought' they were good. The truth really hit me in the face, only God is 'good' and without sin, not me. I needed to confess that and get saved....for real. There were a couple of people in our church who critical of me for going forward to receive Jesus as my Saviour that Mother's Day morning, I had been a professing Christian all along. But, I can tell you from my heart, my life changed from darkness to light spiritially. After that when the Pastor gave the gospel out and the invitation to come to the altar and be saved, never again did I think, oh, not this again, we know this and have done it. Now, I pray with him, that the Holy Spirit of God will woo some deceived sinner into realizing his need of Jesus...just as I did. God be praised! I'm born again...with new life in Christ, abundant & free...

I am just "catching up" with your posts...I have gotten behind in so many this week!

But scrolling down, I was glad to see to see that the service went so well...I know these times are so emotional in so many ways.
The pictures are beautiful...

And a great reminder to be content as we enter this season of "buy me"...

Blessings!

That was a beautiful post. Kpjara is promoting today on her sight.

And I wish YOU enough today as I'm sure you are still adjusting to the fact that the sun still rises without your dad here. I've meant to leave a comment with my condolences, but the words escaped me.

The Lord bless you...

I know a song with very similar words. I wish you enough. It is difficult as parents to wish our children a little sorrow mixed with the joy, a little want mixed in with the blessings....But it is truly what is best for them if they are to grow in grace and wisdom.
Thanks for that reminder. You are right. We all need it this time of year.
