Merry Christmas from Melty Colorado

A chinook wind is blowing, the snow is melting a bit more, the ruts are deep. I want to share one more picture of that overhang above the patio - it fascinates me as it changes each day.

This morning in church we sang "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day." This song evokes memories of the Christmas I was in 5th grade. We were learning this song for our school program, I had never heard it before, and I loved it. Just before Christmas, my pastor dad informed us that we were moving back to Minnesota to be closer to his dad, who was not well. I've mentioned in previous posts our move to the northern most point of winterness, International Falls. I was very disappointed to miss singing this song with my class.

Today as we sang it, the words pierced my soul. The words were written in 1864 by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, but they could have been written this morning. Verses 3 and 4 say this:

And in despair I bowed my head.
"There is no peace on earth," I said,
"For hate is strong, and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men."

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men."

Greetings from Care Bear - this little bear she drew is singing holding a candy cane and singing "Jingle Bells."

Merry Christmas from our family to yours (Anakin is missing from the picture because it was his day with his mom.)

We're from Colorado and were still amazed to hear of all the snow you guys got. Sounds magical. I know reality is its hard to get around, kids go stir crazy, but it sure looks lovely. My MIL always tells me "we need the moisture", sounds like you got it all in one blast. xoxo

Blessings for the New Year Dawn. Just a quick hi before another day of sightseeing with family visiting from NC. I couldn't stay out of touch with special friends for too long :)
We have a busy week planned, but I'll be back as soon as I can.
Have a Happy New Year!!

Oh that snow on the overhang looks soooo cold, but your family photo looks cozy and beautiful! I enjoyed your post Dawn...Merry Christmas dear blog friend, I've enjoyed getting to 'know' you also and hope we have a great year of fellowship coming up in 2007. One of these years our Lord Jesus will come back and rapture us away from here, won't it be superb!!! =)
