Happy Birthday to Me

It won't be a big celebratory day - no 0 or 5 at the end of the number this year. My sis and I won't be the same age any more. It's the first time in 15 years that I haven't been up at 4:30 on this date, making caramel rolls to bring to work. I know - it's weird to bring your own treats on your own birthday, but that's the way it was done there. And I shared a birthday with one of the other faculty members, so we brought rolls and fruit for many years - then she dropped out and I brought rolls. She often was gone somewhere on this date.

Sometimes it has snowed on my birthday. Most often it is the best week-end to view the changing aspens in the mountains. Today it is supposed to be 89 degrees F! How crazy is that??

We won't do anything tonight to celebrate. We'll do it tomorrow, just DC and me. I asked him not to buy an expensive cake and have a "surprise" party for me. He did that for my retirement just 3 months ago (well, it wasn't a surprise this time - and it usually isn't anyway). Care Bear never can understand it when grown-ups don't have a big party - she's quite the event planner! But this is what I want this year - my choice.

I got a great Hallmark e-card this morning from my best buddy from work, who left 5 years ago (not by choice, but by job elimination) and it gave me a great laugh so early in the day.

I'll ride my bike to the gym for the first time this week - the days have changed since Feisty started preschool and I have to meet Kristen there and take the babies - can't do that on a bike! But today is different and she'll drop off and pick up, bringing all 3 to me after her Bible study this morning. We don't want to change THAT routine - her social outlet and spiritual uplift.

On another topic entirely, Kristen is opening her blog to invited guests finally. She doesn't have much time to write, but she's done a bang-up post this week. I know she'll be contacting many of you, who have been her friends for a long time. I hope you can visit her, even though she'll be posting sporadically and won't show up on Bloglines, either.

Well, have a great day on my birthday! 61 years - where have they gone??!!

While there may not be anything "Special" planned for this day, know that you are thought of and wished the very best. May the air feel fresher, the time with the girls sweeter and your day a blessing overall. Happy Birthday.

Dawn,

Happy Birthday, my friend. I do hope you enjoy your day, even though there is no big celebration. My wish for you is that you enjoy many more birthdays that you will celebrate.

Take care, my friend. Praying for you and your family.

Best wishes for a very happy day, Dawn. I am right behind you here (plus a year). At what age do you think we get to celebrate each year instead of every 5????

Are you going to make your rolls anyway? I'm sure that you could share them with all the neighbors. They sound yummy so could you send one my way???

I think that you need to get one of those trailer attachments for the bike. Wouldn't the kids love riding with Grandma and think of the exercise you would get.

Although I did not respond on Kristen's blog, it was fun to read. Hopefully she will include my name in her list.

Have a great weekend.

Dawn -

I hope your day is very special and HAPPY!
Watch your mailbox for a card from me! I mailed it out a little late, so you probably won't get it today, but this way you can continue the celebration - always a good thing, I say!
Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!
I hope you have a wonderful, and relaxing day.
I prefer the low key celebrations whether or not there is a "0" or "5" involved.
Since I'll be 60 in two weeks, I'm hoping the celebration is very low key here!!
Have a super day!!

The special thing about your birthday is YOU! 61 is young!!!! The new 31. :) I hope the day is wonderful and that you have a relaxing, fun birthday. I totally understand about just wanting your husband and you to have a quiet time together!

Tell Kristen I'd love to be invited to her blog....I know that is so rude to ask to be invited! But I have prayed for her and hers for so long, I'd love to keep up with her along her new journey!

Again, Happy Birthday friend!

Happy Birthday, dear friend. I hope it's a great and memorable day for you.

Would you believe I've only had 1 birthday cake in my almost 45 years? And I've never had a birthday party. Not that I'm complaining. I prefer low key celebrations, if at all.

Glad to hear Kristen is blogging again. :o)

Happy Day again!

Love and hugs,

Diane

Happy Birthday my friend:-) I'll be 51 next month so there's 10 years between us...next thing we know I'll be 61 and you'll be 71....I know, smack me why don't you! lol Want to make you smile on your birthday, not depress you! hehe But I agree with you, the years go by much too fast. Sounds like you were planning a quiet birthday...sometimes those are the best:-) xoxo

Happy Birthday, Dawn. I know, sometimes you just don't want the big "show". That's what Mickey & I decided for our 50th. We didn't want the kids putting on a big deal of some kind and a lot of people coming, etc. That's why we chose instead to celebrate with a few things during the year that were "special" to us and we wouldn't necessary do otherwise. It's turned out fantastic so far and I have no doubt our trip coming up will be likewise.

Birthdays aren't what they used to be! But sometimes birthdays are simply a special day to remember how much God loves you.

Try to do one special unusual thing for yourself today or tomorrow. A walk through the park? A bubble bath with a book? Or even...call an old friend.

Hope you have a nice dinner with DC and a very happy birthday! One good thing is...there is not much difference between 60 and 61! And there's plenty of 80 year olds around who would love to be the young chick that you are!

Happy Birthday Dawn. I too have a sister that is the same age as me for 1 month. We were brought up like twins, me being 11 months older and were always in the same grade.

Hope your birthday is filled with blessings.

I missed your birthday? Well, now, I'm totally bummed! But my question is: "Where are the sweet rolls you promised us?" Oh...wait, you decided to not do it this year. Okay, be that way!!!

Yep, aspen trees....changing, nothing can beat it.

I do hope, in all seriousness, that you had a wonderful quiet celebration. Time flies, but hey....you've had a great time living, even tho sometimes it's not so good, life is still beautiful.

Giant belated birthday hugs from me.

Happy belated birthday! I haven't read any blogs until today it has been a busy week! It sounds like you are busy, even though retired. I really enjoyed your B post so much fun.

We had a similar neighborhood event many years ago. Not quite as dangerous, but when you see police circling the house across the street with guns pulled it's a bit scary. (The husband was beating his wife and the 9 year old went to a neighbors and called 911)

Have a great weekend.
God Bless

Oh Happy Birthday Dawn - I'm so sorry I am late. My life has gone into a tailspin these last few days since Ava Claire was born. Hopefully next week I will be more "normal" whatever that is!
It sounds like you had a wonderful day and I am glad because you are a wonderful person!
Blessings on you today and always.
