Tuesday Trivia

It feels as though all I ever do any more is randomness and trivialities. But life is so busy! Retirement??? There doesn't seem to be much time to think deep thoughts!

Our weather has been so beautiful. There is a patch of flowers on my way home from the gym that I have been wanting to catch - I finally remembered to take the camera with me today. I just love these.

Today was my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. Among other celebrations, Kristen, the girls (except Care Bear who was in school), my SIL, and I - had fun at lunch together. The hostess, who was to the right of our table, got her entertainment for the day as she watched all of the commotion. Feisty sang for us, and gave her great grandma a big hug. The babies were good, but not still and quiet, of course. Which makes for more fun!

Kristen has given me the go-ahead to share a few pictures now and then, since I have gone private. I just love this one - all fresh from the bath, wearing their W*lker Mower shirts from Grandpa

I have never been able to figure out the ins and outs of chess - but here's Care Bear beating Grandpa at his own game!

I have a new nickname for Emma - "Scooter." She loves to roll herself into the most amazing places. Katie does not move around as much, but spends a lot of time on her tummy, trying to reach something just a bit beyond her reach. She is "jabberwocky" and is quite noisy! But Emma's two bottom teeth are closer to poking through. It's always going to be fun to see who does what first.

We are going on vacation Friday - back to Georgia to see what fall is like there. I just loved it last spring. We'll also be heading to South Carolina and North Carolina to visit nieces' homes. We'll spend a few days at Myrtle Beach. And, believe it or not, one of my nieces lives 15 minutes from Daily Blessings' Nancy! We are planning to get together - what a blessing indeed! Don't worry, there will be plenty of pictures to come.

I am really excited and a bit nervous - my SIL called and asked me if I would speak at her church's women's meeting the day after we arrive in Georgia. The topic is "Women in Crisis." My mind is swirling as I try to narrow down the topic! I need to carry a pad with me at all times, because I keep thinking of things I want to say, then they escape - kinda like when I'm planning a post! If you think of it, please pray for me that the Lord will use my words for someone who needs them. I feel very honored.

I think I'll sign off with a couple of the pictures DC took on his latest hike. I would like to say that the picture on my header is our own little private getaway in the hills. But no such luck.

Happy 90th birthday to you MIL. She looks fabulous.

It must be really fun to have the two babies to compare with each other. I am sure they will be the same way throughout their lives - one making a step ahead of the other. Won't it be fun?

It is so nice to see the girls again. I'm glad that you are able to post some of the photos.

I will definitely be praying for you as you prepare your speech. One really wants to make points that will hit home. I'm sure you will do a fabulous job.

Those aspen trees are just gorgeous. The color is so brilliant. This is such a pretty time of the year. I hope that you will see a lot of colors on your trip. My DIL's parents just got back from Mrytle Beach and my other son and DIL were in N.C. last week while we kept their children. I hear that obtaining gas was a big problem there.

Have a good week. xox

What an honor to be asked to speak at the Women's meeting. That's wonderful and I know you're going to do an incredible job. I wish there was some way we could all attend so we could hear you! I, for one, would just love to.

Sweet little Feisty! I love her grin! And Care Bear is playing chess?? Amazing. From everything I've read on your and Kristen's blogs, it is clear she is extremely bright. Good for her!

Dawn, just wanted to let you know that I was thinking of & praying for you all today. Your upcoming trip sounds wonderful and I am sure will be a source of many wonderful memories made. What a treasure you have in your MIL. I remember how precious both she and your FIL were when I was there. What Godly examples, their lives. If your travels bring your through St. Louis, let me know. Also, just wanted to pass on this link for you. Tina used to live next door to us and these worship songs are perfect for downloading to CD or MP3 to listen to in the car or on a walk. Thought you might enjoy them. Have a blessed day. tinaosborn.com

She really doesn't look 90, Dawn. What a fun way to celebrate her birthday.

I'm sure you'll do fine when you speak before that group - I'll bet once you sit down and think about it (and make notes LOL) the perfect thing will come to you. Women in Crisis is a vast subject, for sure.

Beautiful photos. The babies are getting so big! And Kristen looks great.

Your kiddo's are growing so fast - it's scary isn't it?
I'm so glad you are enjoying retirement - I remember how hesitant you were about it before. It sounds like you are adjusting just fine!
