Thursday Trivia

This has been one of those weeks - you know the kind - you wish life was on video and you could rewind and erase. It's interesting how sometimes those mountains pictured in the last post can be a metaphor for a wonderful, exhilirating experience, and the valley represents a time of sadness or trouble. Other times the mountains can seem like something totally unattainable or impossible, and the valley becomes a place of restoration.

I heard this song today, sung by Josh Groban, and it was just what I needed. Enjoy it as you peruse the rest of the post.

As the "stuff" was unfolding, there was lots of good mixed in. Who can't feel better about life when you have this little one in it? This picture was taken on "Crazy Hair Day" at school.

And what day wouldn't be brightened by this little ray of sunshine?? Today we had a great conversation about how to drive. I told her what the different pedals were for. I told her she could learn to drive when she's 15 - she said she knew how now, because I just told her. Then she concluded, "Oh, yah, I have to have my driving license!" She was delightfully perky and fun all afternoon.

Several of you have asked for an update on the girls' health. They're doing great - all four of them. They did share their germs with me and I'm still trying to get rid of them, but the girls all back to normal. Thanks for your prayer! The twins are really getting into the growing up routine. They are trying out new foods every day. If you haven't looked at the baby food aisle lately, let me tell you - they might not taste any better than when our kids were babies, but the combinations are certainly more interesting.

Truth be known - they really prefer pizza crust with just a touch of cheese and sauce --

They are in to everything -- wishing they could join their big sisters for a bath (cropped for obvious reasons!)

Remember my lovely shelves full of the memorabilia I brought home from work when I retired? That worked well until - well, until now - when the girlies can pull themselves up to anything -- Care Bear helped me by "rearranging" everything onto the top two shelves - might work until they grow a few more inches!

I saved the biggest news till last. I always leave Kate and Emma in the family room when I need a minute to accomplish something quick (bathroom break comes to mind). The other day I was fixing bottles in the kitchen. I turned around to take them downstairs when what to my wondering eyes appeared but -- little Emma looking up at me quite innocently. It took me quite a few seconds to process what I was seeing. I knew I hadn't carried her up those stairs! Or at least I didn't recall carrying her up those stairs - and more than that, I wouldn't have left her there if I had carried her up those stairs! It wasn't long before Katie followed her sister.
It has been so amazing to watch the progress they've made in the last month. Look out world, here they come!!

Wow, they really are quick! Love all the photos and the stories...reminds me of the time a minister friend's wife found their one-year-old on TOP of the ice box!

Have a blessed weekend.

Love the pictures! Once they start climbing stairs, there's no stopping them! :) They are all so cute! Makes me miss mine more.

What a blessing those girls must be to you. I love the "crazy hair" pictures.

How very bright to know you need a driver's license.

Salmon in baby food? Now that is very different than when my kids were little.

The twins are getting so big - climbing up the stairs is a right of passage.

Hi Dawn,
I couldn't believe some of those baby food options. I can see why they prefer the pizza :)
How great they've mastered the stairs. That will save your back a bit. D used to go down on his belly backwards if you can visualize that one..
He had crazy hair/hat day this week too.

I'm so glad you have those 4 blessings who are disguised as babies to help you get through all the "stuff" of life. And those little Tiger shirts are the cutest things I ever saw!
Praying for you dear friend - the valley's can only last for so long - right?

I can't believe those baby food options! Alaskan salmon?! Yuck!

Love Care Bear's crazy hair! And little Ramona is adorable! (Oops, I mean Feisty!) :-)

I love the bath picture. Especially the foot in Feisty's back!

They're all such cuties!

Dawn,

Yes, there are times when we wish we could erase a day here or there and today was one of those for me.

Loved the photos. Griffyn is going up and down stairs like a going concern. They learn quickly. You will have to find another place to leave them. They are darling.

Thanks so much for your kind and loving comment on the passing of our beloved Meeko. He died with dignity and is not in pain. He went rather quickly and that is difficult for us but good that he didn't suffer.

Blessings, my friend.

*sigh*. I love those little monkeys. All four of them. I can't believe how quickly they learned to do that and how quickly they move up those blasted stairs. I'd feel better if they'd learn how to properly go down them, too. Good grief. Katie will be walking any day now, I think!

Btw...I get the pop up comment window. Did you figure out how to fix it??

Glad to hear the girls are better. I remember when my son was 5, he sat in the car and said he was ready to drive "'Cause my feet can touch the pedal and I can see!" Barely on both accounts.

We all have stuff and I understand the want/need to rewind. I go there also, I will pray for you

God Bless

Oh Dawn,

You sure have your hands full this weekend don't you? The twins are just little girls on a mission and there is no stopping them:) All of your little girls are so adorable and you are so right, they sure change the tone of "one of those weeks" we have had!! Thank God for balance to keep us from sinking. I hope your weekend is a wonderful one and I am so thankful that everyone is well. I hope Kristens getaway is refreshing for her and not too exhausting for you. I am still praying for you my friend.

Love and Hugs, Laurie

You must be exhausted from running around after the little ones, Dawn! David also used to zoom down the stairs on his tummy backwards. At great speed. That will probably be next!

Just a suggestion re the bookcase - David managed to pull the entire bookcase over on top of himself when I emptied the bottom shelves. It may be a good idea to make sure it is anchored to the wall!

Have a lovely Sunday!

Precious, precious pictures of those sweet little girls Dawn.
I am really impressed with the baby food selections. I can remember eating the bits of peaches or apricots the kids didn't finish off. I thought they were delicious!!
Those valley experiences aren't much fun, but He is with us wherever the path takes us. Parying for you.

Baby food with Salmon? Oh my....get real. That's just odd if you want my opinion. Nobody asked me tho...so ignore my statement. :::mumbling::: That's just plain odd tho.

Love the tiger striped shirts!! Tigger.

Wonderful photos...and love the 'bad hair day' photo...that is super.

Hope your weekend has been glorious.

Noah had a chicken/apple baby food combo the other day. I wasn't sure if he would like it, but he gobbled it up!

The stairs are always stressful for me until the kids learn how to go down as well as up.

Oh my.... Time for gates on those stairs! That always scared me with my kids and little Alexys but they do seem to manage steps well.

Little Alexys gave me the flu... I watched her when she was sick and couldn't go to daycare and so had a feeling I knew what was coming... Ugh!

You have a great day!! Beautiful song by the way. Love Josh Groban!

Omigosh, Dawn, look at them climbing the stairs!!! As you say, they've come such a long way in just the last month, it's unbelievable. I'm typing this while listening Josh Groban...oh how I love his voice!! First time I heard of him is when I heard his "The Prayer" with Celine Dion. Been a big fan of his since:-)

Oh, wow, they certainly have come out with new combinations of baby food these days. The last time I bought baby food was about 25 years ago! lol

I so enjoyed seeing the pictures of the girls, big and small...they're all adorable. You're a very lucky grandma to have all these precious grandchildren:-) xoxo

Great pictures of the girls, Dawn. The twins are really growing fast and accomplishing so much. The learning is so great these first years. Too bad we can't continue to learn like that.

I love the driving lesson. Let's hope in actuality that you DO NOT have to do the actual lessons. One time around is enough for my heart.

Crazy hair day???? I think mine looks like that each day. Ha! It may get worse before she grow up.

The baby foods are interesting. We used to grind our own unless we were traveling. Our kids are doing the same thing, but I love it when they visit and use those little plastic containers. Those are the best storage boxes for small items in the sewing room.

Louise and I had a marvelous time visiting this past weekend. We were wishing so many of our good blogging friends could all get together at the same time. Wouldn't that be fun?

Great to have you back! Sorry I hadn't taken care of this before now. I have a limited amount of time these days...not near enough for my blogging buddies I love so well. Thanks for the beautiful song.

What did we do before retirement? We are so blessed to have these little ones in our lives. Just watching your two grow through your blog has been a blessing to me. Thanks for keeping us up to date and sharing them with us.

I haven't been able to blog as much lately either, but I do keep you and the little ones in my prayers.

I loved the song you shared today... love it!

UP THE STAIRS! GAH!!!!!

I had my grands for 10 hours yesterday. They were wonderful - so charming and obedient and sweet and funny, even with their nassssssty runny noses and their coughs.

Fear not, though, I washed my hands almost constantly.

*sniffle* *sniffle*

Oh fooey!

The tag on my "fat" jeans proclaims that they are 8s, which is ludicrous. Especially since the ones I cannot yet wear comfortably are also, reportedly 8s!

I'm guesstimating that the ones I am discarding are 12-14 in actual, real life size.
