Friday Fun

I've seen this before, but it seemed even funnier this time than ever - it is oh, so sadly true to my life! Anybody else??

AAADD… KNOW THE SYMPTOMS... PLEASE READ!

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder. Somehow I feel better even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the

garbage first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. The Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye -- they need water. I put the Pepsi on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching

for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but

first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with

water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the

kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

The car isn't washed,

The bills aren't paid,

There is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter,

The flowers don't have enough water,

There is still only 1 check in my check book,

I can't find the remote,

I can't find my glasses,

And I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm

really baffled because I know I was busy all day, and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail...

Do me a favor; forward this message to everyone you know, because I don't remember who I've sent it to.

The big girls have been going to Bible school at a large church down the road. They've had a great time, and it's given me a much needed break. Today was Silly Hat Day. Oh, great. Care Bear has to participate in such things, and was in hopes of winning the top prize. This morning at 7:20 she realized she needed to get a hat ready. I'm not good at these things - never was when my kids were young, and the second time around I'm no better. But Care Bear is nothing if not determined and persistent.

I perused the closet and found a Santa hat on the floor. Somehow we ended up rummaging through my sewing machine drawers - the sewing machine I "used to" use all the time. We ended up safety-pinning all sorts of stuff onto the red furry hat and tying on various other items from the drawers (note especially the two hanging zippers!) It turned out pretty good. She got some sort of prize, so she was satisfied. Don't you just love the long winter scarf around her neck??

This cartoon reminds me so much of Care Bear.

Finally - the littles brushing their one dozen teeth each. Note Emma's little wet knees? That's from playing on the bathroom floor while big sisters are taking their baths, and splashing water all over the floor!

Have a great week-end!

Regarding the AAADD. That sounds like a perfectly normal day to me!

I have to concentrate twice as hard as I used to, to focus on a task.

Another thought... a typical woman's day calls for multi-tasking (much more than men I think). We are usually trying to do about 3 things at once...if not more...when children are around.

And we keep multi-tasking right into our 80's. No wonder things get a little crazy at times!

The AAADD sounds way too familiar :)
Love the crazy hat. D's school did mismatch day which was fun (plaids with stripes, different shoes, etc!)
That was not too hard to pull off..
Have a great weekend.

I have this disorder and always thought that as I was maturing, I was getting better at multitasking. Now you have gone and ruined it for me:) The kids pictures are so cute. I know I always say that but it's true. They never get less cute!!
Love you and hope your weekend is a great one. I have both grandkids for the weekend while dad and mom are going to the mountains. I think I already see splashed water all over my new
bathroom floor:)

Love and Hugs, Laurie

Reading that I can relate. Sometimes things get so busy, I start one thing and see another that needs attention and on & on. lol
The hat turned out cute. Enjoy your hiatus while the girls are in class.

The AAADD may need to be changed to FAADD for Female Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. I get things accomplished, but I am easily distracted and will go to do one thing, see another thing that needs to be done, so I'll do that thing before the first thing. Sometimes I don't get back to the original task. Too funny!

Great job on the Santa hat! Very creative. :-)

The twins just keep growing and growing. The are so cute.

I have children that can relate to the cartoon you shared. Actually, we probably can relate, too. It's much easier to come up with energy for something fun.

I hope Kristen gets feeling better soon. I think every time I check out your blog, she is dealing with a new health issue. Not good. Again, she is blessed to have you near. I know you are a huge help to her. I hope everyone there is able to have a fun summer!

That cartoon is adorable! I laughed out loud!

Love the crazy hat! I am always so bad at those kinds of things. Thank goodness my husband is artistic and can take over school projects like that when the time comes.

The photo of the littles brushing their teeth actually made me think for one second that I'd like to have twins! They are just TOO CUTE!!

Have a wonderful weekend, Dawn!

Dawn,

Beautiful photos of the girls. The little ones sure are growing. Time flies. Brandon just turned 14 last week and will be graduating from elementary school.

Enjoy the weekend, my friend. Our weather has been beautiful the last two days.

Blessings,
Mary

Dawn,

The hat looks very good for someone who thinks that they weren't good at that type of thing.

The twins are growing so fast. I can't believe how big they are getting.

I hope Kristen gets feeling better soon!

It's so hysterical because it is so absolutley true! I love it Dawn.
The hat is great. What a terrific smile.
Those little ones are growing so quickly - doing something new all the time. It is wonderful that you get to be such a huge part of their little lives. You're a very special Grandma.

Hilarious...you just described me to a T. Love the toothbrushing pic. Sweet little girlies. You asked about Olivia's age--she will be two on July 24, I don't know how the time has gone by so quickly or maybe I just don't remember half of it :0)

Oh, I've had that disease for a long time....

I have to just admire you so for keeping up with 4 grands! Love the hat and she just looks so happy with it on! The babies brushing their teeth! AWWW, that's just too cute! I'll bet by the time the baths are done and the girls are all down, you just fall on the bed asleep!

That was great. I totally do that, but what is my excuse? I've been doing that for the past 30 years. :)

Again, love the pictures of the grandkids. They are so adorable.

I so have that disorder! I can go from so many things in a day and still not really have all that much accomplished! lol! I really have to make myself stick with one project before I start something else!

Great hat! I especially like the zippers! She looks so cute and so happy with her crazy hat! I wonder if we will be doing that in VBS this year, I'll have to be thinking of something to wear.

My goodness, the little girlies are sure growing up! Brushing their teeth by themselves no less! What a cute picture!!!!

Hope you are having a good weekend. It's been gorgeous here and I got lots of yard work done finally!

That reminds me....I need to check to make sure all my Santa hats are in good shape for the season in 6 months....but first, I thought I'd stop and brush my teeth...but wait, the little furbabies need a bath, and they're fighting in the tub....and I get my knees wet. So, I go and think of taking the babies out of the tub, and realize my pant legs are soaking so I go to the closet for a new pair, but then....the box of holiday hats distract me. Oh, oh...the phone rings!! Now where did I put the phone...is it in the wet pants?

[kidding!!!] I so loved this AAADD.

And, serious now, I love the photo share. And I love the fact that you'll come down and help me reach the high shelves in the store!!!

I'd say you did just fine, coming up with that hat for silly hat day, Dawn. I have no idea what I'd have done. And the girls look so cute in their little pj's brushing their teeth. We haven't even begun to think of that with Avery.

I read in the previous post that poor Kristen is really sick. That poor girl. I'll be glad when she finally feels healthy and energetic again too. I can't imagine law school, constantly being sick and four little girls. Thank goodness you're close enough to help her!

Oh my goodness...that was so funny... the kiddos are growing so fast and getting big! I love the pic of them brushing their teeth...sometimes I wish Emmy had someone her age to watch... because when she is around other kids they all do the same thing...oh how nice to have her completely potty-trained, brushing her teeth, cleaning her room...LOL

Lots of love to you, enjoyed this.

Happy Sunday and have a great week ahead.
