Happy Birthday, Care Bear!

Care Bear is now 7. How has the time gone so quickly? She was born on a Saturday, 3 weeks early. She was a little peanut at 5 pounds 8 ounces. Here she is at one day old.

Grandpas love little baby girls instantly.

She was so tiny - well, not as tiny as the twins, but tiny.

But she caught up quickly!

It's amazing how much Katie looks like her big sister, based on this picture! (Great Grandpas love little girls, too!)

I brought her this little knitted outfit from my mission trip to Brazil.

Shortly before she got her glasses.

She was 20 months old when she got her glasses - the day Feisty came home from the hospital - the age the twins will be in another week.

She loves to read - and write books.

Care Bear was thoroughly celebrated this year. She had a huge party in her back yard last Saturday. Grandpa cooked the burgers and dogs. I did my part by taking the littles for a nap at my house. Kids showed up who weren't exactly invited - but oh, well!

See Grandpa in the background --

On her actual birthday, Monday evening, we had the family party at our house. I decided to have a treasure hunt for her gifts.

The first clue sent her to my roll top desk. (I love the fact that Feisty was right there in every picture and enjoying it with her - I guess I'll have to do another Treasure Hunt in May!)

Next to the spare room, under the bed she sleeps in when she's here.

Modeling her new purse.

On to our bedroom, under the tall dresser.

Next on to the bathtub - huh???

Down to Katie's porta-crib.

Finally - in the dryer.

She came over after school to decorate her cake with me -

You have made our lives so much better, dear Care Bear!

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness!!! What a sweet group of photos!! I love the one where she is by the tree, in orange. Altho, they're all super pictures, of course. And to have come up with the idea of a 'hunt' for her gifts....way to go Grandma!!! Excellent idea. Her smile will melt any cold heart...she's adorable. HAPPY, HAPPY belated Birthday to Care Bear.

And...

These photos are taken with the 'old' camera. I wasn't about to take the new one out in the heavy rain. LOL

And the rounded edges effect is done in my photo program/software.

What a cutie! It is so clear from the pictures that she is a really special kid.

I love the idea of a treasure hunt. I bet she had so much fun with that! And I love the photos of the birthday party--especially the kids who showed up uninvited! Must have been really fun! :-)

A big jolly happy birthday to your sweet grandgirl. Glad it was a happy one.

And no, we have not gotten to the cooler temperatures yet here. I'm glad you are enjoying them for us. We are still lows in the 70s in the middle of the night, and highs in the 90s. When it finally gets down to the 60s at night it is a great relief.

What a great celebration. she is so cute. That was funny about kids showing up that were not invited. Brings back neighborhood memories. They come out of the woodwork (o:

What a lovely post Dawn! I so wholeheartedly agree with you that grandchildren add so much to our lives. (Even when they tell me I have chubby legs! lol!) Such lovely pictures, I so envy you to still be able to use Blogger to put your pictures where you want them. I am STILL having trouble with it. BAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!

Loved your post before this one too, the song was so good and had so much in it to think about. What Christ did for us on that cross should never be forgotten in good times or in bad. How blessed we are!

Happy Birthday Care Bear all the way from Maine!! Show her on the map where Maine is! xoxox

The hunt is such a great idea. I know that was much better than opening a pile of gifts. Happy birthday to your sweet little granddaughter.
