Monday Musings

It's been a tough week, but also a very good one. Our new pastor arrived and we had a great installation service this morning, and a delicious dinner together.

The weight loss journey is going well. I haven't felt this in control for a very long time. It's been fun to be on this adventure with my sister and my sister-in-law. My sis and I have fought our weight demons for years, but never together. It's good to be on the road together.

It's been four weeks since we weighed, so it was very exciting. Wearing things I haven't been able to fit in for the last couple of years is really fun - like getting a whole new wardrobe. (BTW, I've also lost 16 inches overall - amazing!)

The verses that go along with each day's study guide are always so appropriate. I especially love this one, from The Living Bible. I Corinthians 6:12-13 - "I can do anything I want to if Christ has not said no, but some of these things aren't good for me. Even if I'm allowed to do them, I'll refuse to if I think they might get such a grip on me that I can't easily stop if I want to. For instance, take the matter of eating. God has given us an appetite for food and stomachs to digest it. But that doesn't mean we should eat more than we need."

It has also been a very good week in another sense. I won two drawings here in Blogland - this is amazing! First, Gigi offered Beth Moore's newest book, So Long, Insecurity - You've Been a Bad Friend to Us. I am looking forward to reading it, and then passing it on to Kristen. Thank you so much, Gigi!

Then, unbelievably, I won the drawing over at Butler's Wife for this beautiful gift being offered by CSN Stores. I am so excited, because most of my cooking and baking utensils are quite "used up" after 37 years - I often think everyone should have another shower at about 30 years, don't you? Here's what is coming - so exciting! Thank you, Becky!!

I want to share this wonderful story I got by e-mail this week - I love it:

A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible - Psalm 23.. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the chapter.

Little Rick was excited about the task - but he just couldn't remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first line.

On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Ricky was so nervous. When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, "The Lord is my Shepherd, and that's all I need to know."

I have a new obsession - and a confession. How could I have gone 6 years without discovering the show NCIS? I have been overdosing on it for the last two weeks, as they've run marathons which have recorded on my DVR. I love the characters, the writing is fabulous, the interaction of the group is amazing - I like to watch them more than even the plot. I hope I get caught up soon!

I just came back from Hootin' Anni's place and she presented me with this lovely award - thank you so much, Anni! If you haven't visited Anni before, you must - she's a hoot, just like her name implies - and very, very talented.

I always like to leave you with something fun - the twins eating in various places in the house. The final one was tonight - a bit of snack after church - they're spending the night with us - they both climbed on the table and shared Grandpa's food -

Have a wonderful week!

NCIS is my all time favorite program on TV. I never miss it. Love Tony I do...he's so funny. His wit and quick responses [and his love of movies] just outshines 'em all for me. But I love each and every character.

Congrats on the weight loss! You go girl.

I'm here early this morning to pass on an award to you---

IT'S HERE scroll down a bit to find it...click on it, and then save it for your wonderful blog if you'd like!!!

Happy Monday.

Good job on your weight loss!!! I'm sticking with mine, too. I'm down one size but want to go down another size.

I saw on Becky's blog where you'd won that cookware and was so happy for you!! The book winning is another wonderful one. I hear it is a very good book. Congrats on both of them!!!

I trust the new pastor brings new fire and insight to your body. It is amazing the reports, around the country, of the way God is moving. We had 8 new souls Baptised last night in our church. It is so exciting that we are seeing salvations weekly, and sometimes daily.

Looks like last week was your lucky week in bloggieland, huh ;) That cookware looks great!

PS...I just tried posting this 2nd comment response to your comment...and it didn't work. Blogger is giving me fits today. :::bummed:::

Anyway, that's the very reason Bud and I walk before the stores open...no temptations at the candy store with their discounts for us walker. LOL

AND!!---I see you in my blog reader now. Yippeee!! [keep that snow and cold 7 degrees there, willya?!!]

Congratulations on loosing so much weight. That is awesome and I can imagine how much better you feel already. You'll have lots of energy to keep up with those little girls!!!

Woohoo! Two big wins. That is wonderful. I love the dishes. Yes, we all need another shower to update our kitchens. It would probably be more fun now too.

Dawn, I am SO very proud of you for sticking with your diet and having lost so much weight already!! I think having your sister and SIL involved in losing weight as well is a great idea.

Congratulations on winning that cookware, wow, what a wonderful prize!! No doubt you are also thrilled with that book:-) Isn't it fun receiving such packages in the mailbox instead of the ordinary old bills? lol

I agree with you, NCIS is a terrific show and I watch it quite often. Out of all the CIS series, that one is my favourite.

Love the pictures of the girls eating their snacks, especially that last one:-)

Have a wonderful week my friend. xoxo

Congratulations on several things today Dawn! Getting a nice award from Annie is really special and TWO give aways is great!!! Those dishes look wonderful and you are right we should have a shower after every 30 years! I still have some things that I got for wedding gifts but most are all worn out and gone now. Another warm day! Yippee!
Congrats on the weight loss!!!!!!!

Good job on your weight loss, Dawn! I know I really need to get serious about mine too, but my heart just isn't in it right now, so I know it's no use even starting.

Congrats on your award. You're right, Anni's an amazing person. :o)

Love the pics of the girls. Hard to believe they're already so big, and Emmy will be 3 in May.

Have a great new week!

Love and hugs,

Diane

Congratulations . . . on your weight loss and your wins this week! I love lots of things about your post: the story of little Rick's right-on summary of Psalm 23, the sweet pics of the twins, and your relevant comments on I Cor. 6:12-13.

I'll be back to visit!

Dawn - it looks like you and I are right on target with the nearly same weight loss right now! Congrats to you on staying consistent!
I found a similiar scripture verse that has helped me - I Corinthians 10:23-24. I know the Lord is helping me to stay focused on Him during this time of pursuing wellness in body and soul.
NCIS is the only show I consistently watch on TV. I always watch it with my husband (ex military) - it's a good show!
Have a great week!

Wow! And good for you with the weight loss. I must say I need to lose some weight and haven't been motivated.

Congratulations on your wins! I agree about the showers, but I'd need to get rid of a LOT of stuff first!

As always, love the pictures of the girls!
