The Kona Adventure - Part 2

Thank you all so much for you prayers. As Karen said, Prayer is Powerful. I am walking without any pain in my foot, and greatly reduced discomfort in my knee. I know it's going to get better every day. I just praise His name and thank Him for all of your care and prayer. I will not be taking time to visit my friends' posts, because of lack of time. But I do want to keep track of everything that is going on, as a way of journaling, and sharing. The pictures were taken before the unfortunate incident, and the good news is that DC has his own camera, so he's taking the pictures, if I can get him to stop when I need one!

We are also thankful that the monsoon-type rains ended just as we got here. I feel so bad for those who were here, or on Hawaiian cruises for the last two weeks, because it was not nice for them at all. I had been looking at the 10-day forecasts and worrying that we would be in the rain mode yet this week. But so far, nothing. Saturday morning, of our first full day here, was very cloudy. But by noon we had too many clothes on and it was very warm and rather humid. But wonderful.

We are not hotel/beachfront kind of people. After we ate lunch that first day, we headed up here to the mountain above the town of Kailua-Kona, to settle into our little cottage. We are at approximately 2500 feet above sea level, and it is considerably cooler up here than down in the town right on the ocean. It was a Friday afternoon and the first thing we noticed was a much greater amount if traffic than ten years ago. We keep hearing the same story - growth of population without good planning for infrastructure. Sounds really familiar.

In the morning, here at mailto: N*ncy's Hideaway, the air coming in the open windows is quite nippy; the smells and sounds (and lack of sounds) are wonderful - the sounds of birds and roosters, and no sound of traffic or any other people. Our cottage is named "Nahele Cottage," which means "Forest Cottage." It is lovely - our hostess's attention to detail is amazing. We have everything we might need (such as bandaids), or may have forgotten (such as a hair dryer).

Our cute little Jeep Compass - too bad it's a rental!

I'm so glad your knee and ankle are so much better, and I give God the glory for answered prayer! ;o)

Lovely pictures, Dawn. I don't like hotels and commercialized areas, but your bed and breakfast looks so cozy and homey, not at all like the usual touristy places. I'm assuming by the pictures that your camera is okay, or else you bought another one....

Enjoy yourself and don't worry about visiting our blogs. We'll be here when you get home, and you may never have another opportunity to vacation in Hawaii again.

Love and hugs,

Diane

Good Morning Dawn,
I'm glad that your ankle and knee are doing better. I'm sorry about your camera tho, but am glad that your husband is letting you use his. I so love the pictures. The little cottage is just beautiful. The breakfast looks yummy as well. Is that cantelope with the bagels? That sunset is just breathtaking. I can imagine how romantic it is seeing it with your husband. Those flowers are stunning. I always love looking at pictures of the flowers and plants they have in Hawaii. Thanks for taking us along on this 2nd part of your adventure. I have so enjoyed it and am looking forward to you other adventures you will share with us. Take care my friend and have a great Tuesday. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.

What an adorable little cottage, Dawn. MUCH better than staying in a hotel. And I'm happy DC has his camera with him!

Well, now I'm confused. I thought Dad's digital camera broke a long time ago; and yours just got ruined....so how are you getting these pictures? Did Dad get a new one?

I'm so glad your foot and knee are better. The first thing Bill asked me last night when I saw him was how you were doing.

Mike's first comment when I told him what happened was, "Well, that won't help her fear of water too much, will it?" That was my first thought, too.

I love your little spot. It looks so cozy and inviting. You should just see the weather around here today. Took me an hour and twenty minutes to get to work.

I want to be there too! beautiful photos, Dawn, and I am really glad you are recovering well. I was tripped up at school this morning and am black and blue. Sigh. I knew I should never have taken the job. But I am fine really. Enjoy the rest of your time!
