Hey, Hey, Hey, Tomorrow is the Day ...

We're heading for the hills for a getaway - Kevin, his wife (Sema), DC, and I are going on a skiing week-end. Well, they're going to ski and I'm going to read a book or two or three as I sit in front of the fireplace - in between fixing the meals they'll need to refresh and refill from all the hard work of playing. Sema is taking another ski lesson. I'm so proud of her - from sea level tropical breezes on the Indian Ocean to thousands of feet above sea level in the cold, snowy mountains.

I neeeeeeed this time away. Yesterday on my way home from work was the first time I've felt peaceful about my workload since the blizzard hit and put us so behind with days off. I have been so far behind, but for the first time I feel like there's light at the end of the very long tunnel - there's lots more to do, but I have it manageable now. Yesterday was a sunny, beautiful day - not so warm, but pleasant as I drove home from work with the girls snoozing in the back seat.

This is what my desk looked like Monday morning - there was that much mail and more in my box every day for the past two weeks. I finally brought a bunch home Tuesday night and spent two hours just opening it, sorting it, and filing it. I have actually had a sore spot in my shoulder from the repetitive motion of slitting opening envelopes with the letter opener!

This is the box full of partially completed application packets.

This is the drawer filled with completed files.

The next step is to send them all out to faculty for two readings of each one. It is a long, involved process. But we end up with a great class every year.

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading Kev's and my stories about our journey through his fight with addictions. The good news is - there's good news! We'll post our Part III editions early next week. If you haven't read them, please go to the one below this, and link to his.

Enjoy your little getaway! Skiing and snow is just not my thing. Our daughter begged us to go to Colorado for a skiing trip and we just laughed are you kidding! Us Floridians might as well throw ourselves in the deep freeze! ((Brrr!))

Wow! Seeing pictures of the applications makes it all so real. That is quite a workload! Hope you are able to pace yourself! Have fun Dawn! You deserve it! :)

Congratulations on a job well done. It all looks so neat and organized. I'm proud of you. You most definitely deserve this nice break.
It sounds wonderful - the sitting in front of the fireplace part. I can't picture myself on skis at this point in my life.
Have a wonderful, relaxing, refreshing time.

I don't think I even need to tell you how completely jealous I am. Yuck. Just don't tell me when you get home about the warm fire, the pleasant quietness and the three books you read, aiight?? Thanks a bunch.

But you do need it, and I'm glad you get to get away....and hey...next weekend it's my turn. Yippee skippee.

I really think you should have used the pics of your desk for a Tackle It Tuesday. (You know...5 minutes for Mom). ;-)

Sounds like a fun weekend! Chad has been reading Kev's story. They actually keep in touch really well for 2 men. Kev is a favorite of Chad's. Have a great weekend!

How cool is that? Photos from your office. I can show Aaron exactly where his application is right now. LOL

How fun for the four of you to go away for the weekend. Don't know which ski area you're going to but every last one of them in Colorado is gorgeous. I'm with you. I'd be keeping the fire going while they're all out freezing and trying to break perfectly good bones.

What I wouldn't give to sit by a fireplace in the mountains somewhere this weekend. Sigh....

Have a wonderful time and come back all refreshed. :-)

Have a super time, Dawn!

And yes, if you can take pictures of your office, then you can take even more of your fun getaway!

Stay safe and have a wonderful time!
