Post Thanksgiving Randomness

The snow is still here, because we have been in the deep freeze for the last several days. One day this week it was 76 degrees, two days later it was 26 for the high.

I was going to show pictures of the gathering at my house for Thanksgiving dinner, but, alas, I was too busy being the hostess to remember to take pictures. Take my word for it - the food was great, and the fellowship was delightful.

Today I decided I needed to get some decorating done because, as I've told you, we're leaving two weeks from today for our anniversary trip, and I need to do some entertaining next week-end before we leave. I managed to get both trees put together, one completely decorated, and the other about 3/4 done.

There's a big mess that I'm not showing, but I hope to get it cleaned up tomorrow. In the midst of the decorating marathon, we headed for Estes Park for their annual Christmas parade. We haven't done this since the kids were little - at least 25 years or more. We decided to go this year while my brother and his family were here - they went for a mild hike with DC then headed back to get me and head for the hills. It was COLD - much colder at that altitude than down here, where it was cold enough. I took pictures, but none of them turned out very well. The moon was full, the drive up and back was beautiful, the streets up there were lined with white-lighted trees, the parade was okay. I guess I'm not such a fan of parades after all. But we had fun being together, and the trip back down felt very good in the warm, cozy car. Last time we went, so many years ago, there were just a few of us at the event. Obviously, it has been well marketed - there were thousands lining the streets. But it was not the caliber of Pea's parade up there in Ontario!

My brother's family has now headed back to Oklahoma, driving all night after a very full two days here. They always cram in as much fun as they possibly can when they come to visit.

Did you ever break something you really liked?? I had one special bowl that I always used for my 7-layer salad, especially for holidays. I got it from my dear MIL for Christmas years ago. The other day, after our International dinner at church, which I wrote about last week, where I took Glorified Rice in this lovely bowl, I had it in the sink when a freak occurrence caused my crock pot to fall into the sink and destroy my favorite serving piece.

Isn't that just the saddest sight?? I'm sure some of my blogging friends out there could find something to replace it at a thrift shop. I need to check some out.

Did you ever have a dream where you were in the middle of a huge problem and you didn't know how you were going to solve it? Suddenly, you realize you need to get up and go down the hall, and when you do you realize it was a dream, and it's such a relief! Wouldn't it be great if we could solve our real problems so easily?

Recently one of my nieces indicated that she thought Care Bear's kindergarten picture looked a lot like her Grandma Dawn. I looked up my school picture at about the same age. See what you think:

The other day Kristen asked me to take a picture of her in her present state of pregnant-ness. Here she is at 26 weeks - with about 3 months left to go. I don't know how she's going to stand up straight in a few more weeks. She did a post showing herself at the end of the other two pregnancies, as compared to this one. Check it out, if you have time and are interested.

I'll close this disjointed series of paragraphs with my latest sunrise picture on the way to work:

Have a blessed week-end!

Lovely photos! I am so sorry about your dish. The thing that got broke that caused me the most grief was an item my dad had given to us. It got broke just a few months after his death and really upset me!

I like your trees, especially the second one. I'm really a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas colors and decorations.

That bowl was lovely, too bad it got smashed. Hopefully you can find a similar one to take its place.

I think I've mentioned before that I think Care Bear really resembles her Grandma a LOT!

Poor Kristen! Another 3 months to go. She's going to have to have a wheelchair to get around by the time 9 months rolls around!

Have a great weekend, Dawn. ;o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

Good Morning Dawn,
I'm glad yall had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well. We have decided to have Christmas at our house this year with my parents and sister on Christmas Eve. We have our tree up and decorated and I did some decorating yesterday afternoon. I still have some more to do. I love your trees. They are just beautiful. You did a great job in decorating them. I hope to post some pictures of mine in a few days. Sorry that your dish got broke. I hate to lose something that is a favorite of mine also. I am used to that certain thing and when I can't use it, things just don't feel right or feel the same. It is cold here this morning too. According to the radar, there is some snow flying around. I just took hubby to his truck and it wasn't doing anything outside here. Kristen looks beautiful. I remember my preggy days. LOL. The first one wasn't too bad, but with my second, I had alot more morning sickness and pains I didn't experience with my first one. I do think your picture and Care Bear's picture look alot alike. Of course the glasses are different, but you could almost pass as twins. Well, I'm out visiting a bit and then I'm going to post. I am having some good old coffee. It sure taste good on a cold morning. Take care my friend and have a great Saturday. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.
P.S. I love the sunrise. It is just beautiful.

Dawn,

Care Bear does look like you in that photo. Amazing!

I'm glad you had a lot of fun with your family. I'm not a parade person either, but do enjoy taking the grandsons when their parents aren't going. We went last year. Our parade is today and I'm not sure what is happening. It will certainly be cold tonight.

Take care, Dawn and have a wonderful weekend.

Blessings,
Mary

Your trees are lovely, your granddaughter DOES look like you did. Different glasses of course. And some day she will look at her picture and laugh.

Kristen looks like she will be uncomfortable before long. She has a ways to go. What a reward when it is all over though.

I am glad you had a good Thanksgiving. I know what you mean about forgetting to take pictures. Seems like when I think of it everyone makes fun of me for taking pictures of silly things. They just do not know my internetter friends.

I enjoyed my visit to your blog.

You and Care Bear do resemble one another. VERY cute pictures!

That snow (on the previous post) looks cold. I have a pair of peddle pushers on today because the sun is warm (but not hot). It gets cold at night--down to the 50's.

I enjoyed the Christmas trees--they look nice! And I'm so excited for you...going to Hawaii!

I'll keep those grand-babies in prayer...and Flora--I'm glad you are reading the same book. That will be helpful to your conversations with her.

It amazes me that we live in the same state and your weather is so different. Of course, I lived where you live, for 26 years, so I know how it can be warm enough for shorts one day and out come the snow shovels the next day. Crazy!

Oh, your poor dish. That really is a sad photo.

Kristen is going to be HUGE before these twins are born. She and Kris are due at the same time and Krissy's not nearly that big. But after the way this pregnancy started out for Kristen, it's actually great to see her getting so big. She might beg to differ, because she's the one carrying that tummy around, but what a blessing to see those two baby girls getting so big!

Hi Dawn,
You certainly have beautiful trees. Mine won't be up for a while yet. What a shame about your favorite bowl. Hopefully you can find something that is similar.
Care Bear's resemblance to you is striking. Both adorable!!

I love your trees! And my word, Care bear is SO like you!
I look at the photo of Kristen, and I cannot believe she has twins in there. She is tiny! And so lucky she springs back into shape so quickly! I was huge with each of mine and sadly there was no springing anywhere after the births. Groan.
Your Thanksgiving sounds wonderful Dawn!

It's a long way to come to Australia, but I could probably fix your favourite bowl!

I loved looking at how beautiful your Christmas tree is, the one with all the blue decorations. And I'll be praying for your daughter as she goes through these next months. Makes me thankful I was young while carrying all of mine.

All of a sudden it seems like the holidays are arriving much too fast. I may have to settle for only hanging a wreath on my little house's door.

Yep, definite resemblence between you and the grandgirl!

I don't know what everyone is talking about when they say that Kristen is big. I just don't see it. Perhaps it's the shirt? I just don't think that she looks "huge". I wish I had looked like that at the end of my second trimester! Maybe I should send her some of MY pictures to make her feel better, put the whole "big belly" idea into perspective. Hahaha.

O.K. two trees!? Beautiful, but I'm so good if I get one up before Christmas! Usually Russell just puts it up! :) He's really sweet! And yes, your granddaughter looks so much like you!

I'm glad to hear Thanksgiving went well.

Your trees look really nice, even the one that's not finish yet.

Good Morning Dawn,
Hope you have recovered from Thanksgiving. Hey listen, that David McMahon visited my blog the other day too. I went to his blog and noticed you left a comment. I thought about it, but I am waiting to see if he answers you back. I, too, am curious as how he found me. I wasn't too impressed by some of the commentors pictures on his blog. Well, maybe it's just me, but I just didn't feel the need to leave a comment. It is another rainy day here in the South. It was foggy when I took the girls to school this morning. Well, take care my friend and have a Blessed Monday. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.
P.S. If he does answer you back and lets you know how he found you, if you don't mind, please let me know. I would appreciate it.

Wow, Dawn, Care bear does look just like you! That is so cute!

Hmmm...I was looking at this picture of Kristen and thinking, goodness, I looked way more pregnant than this at 6 months with each of my girls, and I was only carrying one! So I hopped over to see her other pictures, and with those two, she doesn't even look pregnant at all for nearing the end! Wow! This amazes me because I was huge! ;)

Your trees look beautiful, Dawn...and two of them! I am just so excited for you about your trip...:D

Snow for Thanksgiving- lucky you! I love the care bear comparision- I think it is a perfect match. You are so organized to have company and get your tree decorated at the same time! I am impressed. I am also delighted to see that Kristen is doing great- she looks precious with twins bulging out. (I posted about the twin babies today.) I look forward to updates. Blessings to you my friend.

I'm really liking the gold and blue Christmas tree!

We have our parade of lights coming up this Saturday. It is my favorite parade, but it is always a little too long and cold! The pictures you posted of the floats are beautiful!

I'm sorry to hear about your favorite bowl getting broken! I hope you are able to find a replacement that is just as useful and beautiful.

Care Bear DOES look just like you! That is neat to see both pictures together.

Do you think Kristen will make it to her due date? I hope she is able to rest and take it easy. She has a long 3 months ahead of her!
