These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

showandtellfg2[2]

The other day I mentioned that I was going to decorate my office as much as I could, since the main office is off limits for the "real reason for the season." I don't have much room, but I used the top of my file cabinet to display as much as possible. The ornaments on the tree are little Nativity figures - I wish I had bought two sets when I found them last year.

Nasser, our young, handsome Muslim originally from Lebanon came in this morning and was a bit overwhelmed. He knows where I stand now, for sure.

The history of this Santa will forever remain a mystery. All I know is that I've had it as long as I can remember. It's not in very good shape any more, but I can't bear to throw it away. I called my mom to learn where it came from and when, but she doesn't remember. I'm guessing it was one of my very first ornaments ever.

Today the doorbell rang, the kiddoes ran to the door, and it was the US Postal Service guy delivering this:

The kids got so excited as we opened the package. I ordered it about a week ago from an ad in the Sunday news magazine. (I'm supposed to get an Elvis Christmas CD as a bonus, but it hasn't arrived yet. I hope they don't forget). The angel is a knock-off Willow Tree, and I can't remember where I got it either. But I thought it fit in okay. The other day when she saw the angel, Care Bear was convinced that we needed to paint eyes, nose, and mouth on her face. They are also concerned that there is no stable. But I am looking forward to adding these things as the years go by.

I won't be able to participate in Morning Glory's "Christmas Tree Treasures" this year, so I did my own a bit early.

Good Afternoon Dawn,
Your office decorations are just beautiful. I love everything about it. I love the old Santa as well. The Nativity looks authentic. I wouldn't paint it, but it's not mine and I'm sure you will do what the grandkids wants done. LOL. I know because I know how my parents are to my girls. LOL. Anyway, It all looks beautiful. I had left a comment on your other post about stopping by and picking up what I have for you. It will be the 3rd post now. Blogger was a booger to me this morning. I'm sure I don't have to tell you anything new there. Well, take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.

I loved seeing your decorations, Dawn.

Alas, when my parents' house burned in 1987 all our family decorations and ornaments were lost. We still have our memories and some pictures, though.

You've got a lot to get done before you leave for your vacation, don't you? Don't stress so much over it that you can't enjoy the experience.

Love and hugs,

Diane

What a testimony to have your Reason for the Season decorations in your office! I love it!

The Giselle costume is the one the princess wears in the new movie Enchanted, Disney's new movie. I finally caved in and bought it on ebay but the price wasn't any more then what I would have paid in the store thankfully!

Your new Christmasy look is just lovely! Did Kristin do it for you?

We just sent 150 boxes to Operation Christmas Child from our church. It's the organization that Billy Graham's son runs. It's so much fun getting the stuff and making up the boxes and I know the children appreciate it.

And I think your angel fits in nicely!

I think it's so sad you can't decorate your main office area for Christmas! But at least you have your own space to do with what you wish. I'm thinking about getting a little tiny tree for my desktop this year. Our office doesn't decorate at ALL anymore. Not for political reasons, but because no one wants to mess with going to storage and getting out all the decorations. How ridiculous is THAT?!

I love your decorations...we start decorating this weekend, and 5 yr old lil cherub has been counting down the days all week when I told her! ;)

Your new Nativity set is wonderful, Dawn! At least you can decorate and show forth Christ in your own little office space!

And the santa --I wouldn't want to part with it either.

Happy Show n Telling.

I love your Santa---so unique. I have that Willow set too--just got it this year; they ran out last year! I may leave it up all year as a reminder of what Christ was willing to do for us. Blessings upon you!

I am glad that you display the real reason for the season in your office. :)

The willow tree angel looks like it was made to go with the other pieces. I didn't know that it wasn't apart of the set until you told me. ;-)
