The Twins - Day Four

We are all getting pretty weary. The kiddoes have been great, but it's getting old - I don't know how much they understand about how long it will be before the girls get to come home. Kristen's pain is still more than she's comfortable with. The insurance company is allowing her to stay one more day - nice of them. Remember when C-section patients stayed in the hospital for 10 days??

But - all of that is minor compared to the wonderful miracle of these little girls. The nurse (in the picture below) told us today just how much of a miracle they are. She indicated that the hospital staff was really concerned about their health before they were born. But God knew their condition all along! She told us that they are so excited about how well they are both doing. Mommy and Daddy "played" with Emma for over an hour last night - wish I'd been there to see that!

Kristen, Her Husband, and One of the Awesome Nurses

These little darlings definitely have minds of their own. They are still under the blue lights for jaundice. I described Kate yesterday with her little black shades - here is Emma with them today. The "glove" on top of Emma is to keep her in a certain position.

Kate refused to keep the little shades on, so they had to put a headgear on her to keep her eyes covered. It's pretty hard to see how gorgeous she is !

The diaper on the left is called "Wee Pee" and fits the girls - the one on the right is Preemie size.

Do you want to hear about another miracle? If you've been reading Kristen lately, you know that her employer was treating her very badly. I finally wrote an e-mail to the higher-ups in HR. After being forwarded several times, it landed in the right place. Of course, they couldn't discuss the situation with me, but I gave them Kristen's number in the hospital and she talked to this lady today. She is pretty much out of sick and annual leave, and short term disability doesn't kick in for 30 days. There is a Sick Leave Bank that employees can contribute to. So she'll be applying for that and hopefully cover the difference.

Also, her supervisor had honored her request to go back to part-time.
(Unfortunately, they weren't working with her on the schedule). But she had not worked on day of part-time yet when she went onto bedrest. Unfortunately, since she was officially part-time, this meant her disability pay would be based on that half time salary. The HR person who called Kristen informed her that she was able to keep her in full-time status for purposes of disability pay. Praise God!

Thanks once more for your prayer for all of us!

Oh my, they are so little. "Little shades" that's a great way of saying that. When I had my "normal" c-section I was in the hospital 5 days. I can't believe how quick they are to send you out there.

Good Evening Dawn,
"THANK YOU" for showing us some precious pictures of Emma & Kate. They are truly miracles from GOD. I'm sure the juandice will clear up in a few days. You know, I am 45 years old and already have had our girls, but you know what I like to watch? I watch on "The Learning Channel" A Baby Story and Bringing Home Baby just about everyday. I don't know if they had them shows when I was pregnant with our girls, but I do enjoy watching them. I will continue to pray for Emma & Kate as well as Kristen. I do hope she gets to feeling better soon. It's just going to take a while. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.

Oh Dawn, I so loved seeing new pictures of these precious little miracles. I'm so happy to hear that they're continuing on doing well. I'm glad that Kristen will be able to stay in the hospital for extra day. With the stress that she had from day one with this pregnancy, it will take her a while to recover from it and from having had the c-section. My prayers continue for all of them!! Great news also about her work situation! xox

It's hard to imagine how small they are and it doesn't really show in these photos, unless that glove is normal adult size. I know they're teenie little things.

How wonderful that they're doing so well. And it's so nice to see a smile on Kristen's face - she looks wonderful and I hope her pain lessens soon.

Thank you for sharing these photos with us Dawn.

What a blessing that your email had such a great affect on how the HR department is treating her now. That's very, very good news.

Good evening Dawn, I am so thrilled that Kristen, Emma and Katie are all doing so great...This has really been a blessing from above..It will be hard for Kristen to visit them everyday after she goes home..She needs her rest to recover. What wonderful news that her pay from her work will be at full time status....
Give Kristen and your family my best regards.. Hugs, Baba

Kristen should save one of those tiny diapers. Someday when Emma and Kate are older, they'll be shocked how small their first diapers were. I didn't know they made anything smaller than preemie. Amazing.

I have one of the tiny diapers from my twins. I love to show it to everyone. It is a real eye opener and accurately shows how small they really are. I also saved some tiny bottles so the twins can feed their dolls.

Your blessings just keep coming and I echo so many of the comments-
"this is a miracle indeed"! My prayers continue for all of you. Thanks for keeping us posted.

Hi Dawn!

I just finished reading all the posts about your new beautiful granddaughters! I'm so happy for your family! I loved the "big hand little hand" picture and post. The pictures of the births were amazing, and reminded me of what a miracle new life is.

I'll be praying for Kristin, as she will be quite busy with her children...and with eventually returning to work PT.

I'm praising God that the babies made it safely...and will continue praying for them!

Thank you for the updates, Dawn. I LOVE seeing Emma and Kate. It makes me excited for our new little one to come...only I hope ours is a boy. :-) I hope Kristen is making the most of her alone time in the hospital and I hope she continues to feel better. You're going to need another vacation after all of this excitement!

Such good news Dawn. I'm so glad things are working out for Kristen. Those sweet little girls are just so incredibly precious. God is so faithfully good.
I can only imagine how tired you must be about now. I pray grace and strength for you dear friend. Once Kristen is feeling better you will be able to get some sort of routine worked out. You have been such a blessing to them.

What tiny diapers. My daughter had jaundice when she was born, it wasn't a problem in the long run.
What precious little ones.

38 years ago in May the doctors told me my 2 lb. baby was in God's hands, and she is now a strong, healthy woman...still tiny, but with two children. She is now an OB/GYN nurse. God had His plans for her. I am thankful always. She was my smallest...my largest weighed 6 lb., my oldest weighed slightly over 4 lb. And they are all alive and well today...and so many advancements in medicine have happened since they were born.

God bless your whole family. Our prayers are still with you all.

Make sure you keep at least one of the tiny diapers as a keepsake for the girls. They will never believe they fit in something so tiny!

I'm having to fight the urge to try to reach through the monitor and cuddle those little darlin's close to my heart! Sweet, sweet babies...

Praise the Lord Kristen will at least get full pay when they get it all straightened out. That's got to be a relief with so many other concerns that have to be dealt with.

Thanks for the pictures and update, Dawn. I'm looking forward to pictures where we can really see their faces and their personalities showing more.

Love and hugs,

Diane
