Thursday Thoughts

True to the forecast, it didn't get much above 50 degrees today, and will be cooler tomorrow. What a crazy place!

It's rather difficult to type at my usual speed with this rig on my wrist. But I am very happy to say that I have not had any need for pain meds from the procedure. I will have stitches removed in another week. Let's hope that's the last of the nasty cyst. The surgeon said it was unusually large. Apparently there was an artery that had become entwined in the cyst, which required quite a bit more work, and ended up with it being severed and tied off. I of course was unable to hear this explanation to DC by the surgeon, so am anxious to talk to him about it when I go back for the follow-up.

I was a bit concerned about carrying the girlies and changing diapers, but I was able to manage it today. I have to say that Miss Katie Bug is becoming quite the goofball. Their personalities are just blossoming lately.

I could hear Emma saying "STUCK!"

They even do things exactly alike when they're sleeping.

Last Saturday we celebrated Feisty's 5th birthday at the zoo. It turned out to be a beautiful day and the littles were so good. As were the big girls. I found this picture taken a year ago when we went - the babes were only a bit over 3 months old.

What a difference a year makes!

The girls' other grandpa got to come with us - he pulled the big girls in a wagon, and he took lots of pictures.

He and Kristen took the train ride.

The fun part of going to the zoo in the early spring is that there are cute little babies besides ours!

Come on down, you can do it!

The beautifully colored tucan --

and the gorgeous peacock ---

and the purely pink flamingos --

and the very unattractive vulture!

We didn't make it to the lions, orangatans, tigers this year - we ran out of energy and time. But my favorite thing this year was taking note of the oddities that God created - what a great sense of humor and variety He has!

And this guy, who looks like he got in on the tail end of the zebra line and only got partly done.

I am so thankful that Kristen was able to go and enjoy herself. She is doing so much better. Thanks again for your prayers.

Remember when I told you about DC's quartet making a CD? Tomorrow they will spend most of the day finishing up the recording. It has been quite a long process, but we're really excited to have the completed product.

Have a wonderful week-end!

That's wonderful for DC to finish up the CD. I'm sure he is very excited.

I'm glad Kristen got to go and she is feeling better.

The twins are so cute - love the pictures of them sleeping the same.

I'm so sorry about your hand. I've had carpal tunnel surgery and I know how it feels to have limits on one of your hands. I pray for a quick and painless recovery.

That is quite the bandage on your arm, Dawn. It will be interesting to hear from the doctor what went on with the surgery.

The trip to the zoo looks like it was such fun. This is such a great time to visit the zoo and the little ones look like they really enjoyed the day. The human babies are sooooo much cuter. BTW, what was that animal that looks part zebra?

Please warm up your location before we leave next week. We will spend one night in Dillon on our way. I do not want to take winter clothing with me. ;)

Glad to hear you're managing with that large bandage and that you don't need pain meds.
The trip to the zoo looks like such fun and one can really see just how much difference a year makes in those twins!
Good news about Kristen!
Enjoy the holiday weekend :)

I'm so glad you are doing so good after your surgery and no pain meds... you are a REAL woman! I hope the recovery goes as smoothly.

The twins are really just adorable and how happy they look. Happy, healthy, cute as can be and that is a blessing indeed!

Tell DC that I'm proud of him. He has worked hard and soon will enjoy the fruits of his labor!

Next year you can do the lions and tigers and bear, OH MY! Sorry I couldn't resist! Have a great weekend!

I'm glad the cyst is 'gone'. It sounds like it's a good ting you went in...and the babies are hardly babies anymore!

What precious pictures.

Glad to hear that your arm isn't hurting you!

Congrats to DC.

That zoo trip looks like a load of fun. I'm really looking forward to taking my grand baby to the zoo when he gets old enough.

In answer to your question- we're just moving parts of TX. We are moving east where there are trees. I really miss the trees. Although, I think I won't care much for the the buggy type things that live in the trees- especially the ones that bite like mosquitos.

I'm so glad you are not in pain and that things went well with your surgery. Don't overdo and take care of yourself.

Oh my gosh, the zoo looks like so much fun! I can't wait until Khai is old enough for us to go. There's a great zoo in Central Park that I love. Looks like you all had a really fun time.

That's some bandage on your wrist! I hope this is the final procedure that needs to happen. What an ordeal. I'm glad to hear you're managing though. Gotta be able to pick up the littles!

So exciting about the CD!

It looks like a good time was had by all. Haven't the little ones grown since last year? Wow.

I pray your hand is doing much much better! God bless you! :0)

Oh my, Dawn. Having that huge bandage on your wrist and arm must be a trial when you've got all the girls. I can't imagine. But I hope the surgery was completely successful and you can put this behind you.

Your photos of the zoo make me miss it so much. I absolutely love the Denver Zoo in the springtime and would give anything to make the trip out there again. Someday....

It's so precious, the way the baby has her little feet crossed while she's sleeping with her little behind in the air. Adorable. It's hard to believe how much they've changed in just a year and I agree with you - it's so much fun to watch their little personalities emerge.

Avery is turning out to have the same feisty, impatient personality her mom had when she was little. Paybacks! :-)

Glad your surgery went well and they took care of that artery. Strange how those things happen, you wonder what makes them all of a sudden appear! Hope this is the end of it!

I remember that picture when you took the girlies to the zoo last year. What a change a year makes! They are growing like weeds aren't they? So glad Kristen is doing so much better and was able to go with you all to the zoo.

Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! xoxox

I sure hope this cyst is long gone now. The best part is not having to look at the monsters anymore. They are embarrassing, mine sure was for me. The girls are getting so adorable and I just love the way they tuck their knees under their tummies when they sleep. My boys used to do that too and reminded me of little frogs. Great tour of the zoo too. I hope you are having a nice and restful weekend with good weather. Love you Dawn.

Love and Hugs, Laurie

Yes indeed....what a difference only one year makes. Those girls are too, too precious Dawn. And the tiger pjs/jumpsuits are so adorable.

The zoo....how I wish we had a zoo nearby. I think Victoria Texas has one, but we've never gone yet. Maybe we will someday soon.

Enjoyed all the animal photos. And P S....the 'other grandpa' is a cutie too. But, don't tell him. That'll be just between you and me. LOL

So glad you're coming along well! The girls are all so cute and it looks like quite the happy birthday. That may be the fattest camel I've ever seen! Glad Kristen is better!

Hello dear Dawn:-)

Finally have the time to do some visiting...I'm on strike today! lol I've just caught up with all of your posts that I had missed and I can see that lots has been happening! I'm really so glad that your mom's birthday celebration turned out so well, she looked so happy:-) Also glad you had your ganglion surgically removed...here's to a full recovery with no problems with it!!!

Loved seeing all the photos, all of the girls are so adorable and full of life:-) I know I've said it before but I just don't know where you get your stamina to handle all of them! lol

I love going to the zoo and it looks like you all had a wonderful day there. The closest zoo to me is about 4 hours away...years ago we used to have one nearby but it closed down when my boys were little.

I'm hoping to be a more regular blogger again now...once I get caught up with everyone! lol xoxo
